Hi everyone,
I'm a graduate student at University of Southern California's marketing analytics program, and I'm currently doing qualitative research on the rare houseplant industry. I'm looking for U.S. based hobbyist/collectors who'd be willing to chat with me for about 45 minutes (virtual) about their experience. How you got into the hobby, your journey as a collector, etc. No wrong answers, I just want to hear your story.
If you're interested or know someone who might be, please fill the quick screening form below (takes 30 seconds):

Happy to answer any questions in the comments or DMs. Thank you!
All responses are fully anonymized, the conversation will be recorded and transcribed for note-taking purposes only, and this interview is strictly for academic purposes.
P.S. I am very passionate about this hobby and have a modest collection of plants myself (orchids, hoyas, aroids). I'm excited to learn more from you!
The NSE Monstera Albo is a distinct lineage of Monstera deliciosa defined by a rare double mutation—combining classic white albo variegation with a contorted, irregular growth pattern. Unlike standard albos, this line consistently produces leaves with twisting structure, asymmetry, and heavy sectoral variegation, giving it a more aggressive and sculptural appearance. The result is a plant that stands out immediately from typical variegated Monstera, both in form and expression.
This lineage is closely associated with NSE Tropicals, where it was preserved and distributed, becoming one of the more recognized named clones in the collector market. While formal documentation on its origin is limited, it is widely regarded as an older cultivated line, valued for its consistent traits and identifiable growth pattern. Among serious collectors, the NSE Albo is not just another variegated Monstera—it’s a specific, trackable lineage with unique genetic expression.
