I was falsely accused of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol yesterday while delivering for Uber Eats. I have never been under the influence of any substance while delivering and I genuinely have no idea why the customer would have thought this. My interactions are typically less than 5-10 seconds long with each customer and I have always made a point to treat them all with respect even during that small period of time.

The only possible reason behind this accusation would be someone misinterpreting my speech impediment. I have a diagnosed moderate to severe stutter that can flare up when I’m talking to strangers. If someone is unfamiliar with this condition, they may consider it something that it is not.

Have any of you experienced this accusation before? If so, how did it fare out for you?

I was annoyed at 1st bc i just knew i was missing other offers. So i stopped accepting new offers and waited. I kept the customer informed on what was going on, too. The initial offer was $13, which was good imo. Way to go, generous customer!!
