How to prepare as a non-jee applicant in gap year?
Well, I never prepared for jee because I had no interest regarding engineering initially. However, as I explored and started doing some coding I realized I'd go for cse perhaps. Now this can appear idiotic to people yes but I was not able to apply anywhere this year because of documentation issues and I want to first work on my basics and prepare better for the exams rather than wasting money this attempt. My 11th went bad due to mental health issues and 12th was mediocre as I fell sick mid-year for months :/ No room for excuses, nobody cares about allat.
I am taking a gap year and willing to study for BITSAT, UGEE, Comedk and other engineering exams to get good marks and a solid rank. What online/offline course should I join, how should I prepare? Please give me all the advices and tips and help me build a roadmap I can work along :))
Don't be angry yall :( please help me out I'm already in a disappointing situation for everyone including myself....
SUPR (sh!t at chemistry)
Am i the only one on the subreddit who cleared REAP but not SUPR?
Mere pass me baithe examinee ne Meta AI glasses pehena hue the
On the 2nd of May, in TCS Gitobitan, Salt Lake Sector V, Kolkata, the examinee sitting beside me was wearing meta AI glasses.
Uss samay maine dekha tha to notice kiya tha ki the arms as well as the lenses of his glasses were exceptionally thick; and the Ray-Ban logo was also visible. Back then I just thought ki koi prescription glasses hai and maybe Ray-Ban made those.
Fir exam chalu hone ke baad mai bhi uske baare me bhul gaya. But when we were allowed to leave the Exam Room, usne uthte samay mujhse small talk ki aur nikalte samay maine dekha ki his glasses have no distortion.
Even during the exams, pretty much everyone except him had taken extra sheets. Hell, his sheets were only partially filled up, if even that. But he had marked ALL THE ANSWERS in his exam, atleast in REAP (they were all green).
He called the REAP questions "exceptionally easy" even though this year was definitely harder than the last. Usne mujhse kaha ki "Bhai mujhe to kal raat tak yaad bhi nahi tha exam hai, wo to Mummy ne yaad karaya-". Even during the exams, he was mostly only using his mouse.
Mujhe uska naam ekdum bhi yaad nahi hai; I forgot about it during the exams. All I remember is ki mai TCS Gitobitan ke Lab 1A ki Seat C029 me baitha tha (I was C030). He confirmed ki wo Kolkata ka hi resident hai. He had a really long name (First and Last name), About 5'10 to 6'0, Dark Skin tone, and Fat.
Agar koi usse admittedly itni kam info se identify kar sakta hai then please do so. If someone knows of the features of the Meta AI glasses and can check if it has any feature which "might" help him with the exams in any way?
My ugee result 💔
Fked up my jee mains, bitsat and now this 😔.
Any suggestions.
Drop you attempt in the comments, so as to know the average attempt in SUPR and REAP.

Bhai abhi nikla hu exam deke reap kya khatarnak tha
Supr was very easy as compared to it but reap me kuch bhi puche ja rha tha😭 yes i didnt study for ugee but wtf
HOLY SHIT! (It wasn't even a serious attempt) The world works in mysterious ways.
Been passionate for mechanical engineering and aeronautical for a while. Never thought I would even give the UGEE. After a shitty JEE Mains rank and an equally shitty BITSAT first attempt score, I was losing all hope in myself. Then UGEE came around and now these scores. Maybe it's a sign that I too should try out for CSE/ECE. Besides, the fact that I didn't prepare for UGEE was what helped. The fact that the questions this year were super unexpected (no linguistics and highly PCM based REAP), stumped most UGEE aspirants and I guess that is where no expectations helped me. But HOLY SHIT!
UGEE DONE , NOW I AM DESPERATE FOR ADVICES ONLINE , NEW PROFILE -- PLEASE HELP ME REACH SUFFICIENT KARMA
Sadly i did not qualify -- the fuck i tried so hard for this exam , gave moocks and what not , but well the winner took it all and loser has to fall me ghanta haar nhi manra -- i need to discuss people in r/btechtards for leee and other important exams and overall planning for upcoming 1st year in a local tier 3 clg , please help me with meeting the karma requirements :_
mods dont remove my post , i am a survivor of ugee 2026 horrors
please upvote me , just 10-20 karma needed ig
What if IITS decide that they should take students based on Aeee Rank?
Why REAP/SUPR score doesn't matter (and how to actually clear the Interview) - Interview Guide
Congrats to everyone who cleared the cutoff. Now, forget your score.
I’ve been taking mock interviews for the last 5 years, and I’m going to tell you something your coaching won’t - The written exam was just a filter. The interview is the actual exam.
I have seen students who cleared the REAP cutoff by barely 0.5 marks go on to get a 1-digit AIR because they crushed the interview. I’ve also seen "toppers" with massive written scores get rejected because they couldn't explain the logic behind a simple physics phenomenon.
IIIT-H is a research institute. They don’t want people who can solve 50 MCQs in an hour, they want people who can sit with one problem for 3 hours without giving up.
Here is the reality of the UGEE Interview and how you should prepare:
[I share more questions for interviews if you feel that’s required]
1. The Slate is Wiped Clean
Once you enter that room, your REAP score is invisible. Your final rank is decided 100% based on your interview performance. Whether you topped the written exam or cleared it by a whisker, you are on a level playing field now.
2. The Research Mindset
In JEE, the answer is everything. In UGEE, the answer is secondary. The panel wants to see your mental wiring. There is no final answer in research, its a process. UGEE interview will test this mindset.
- Tip: Practice solving problems while speaking your thoughts out loud. If you get stuck, don't go silent. Say, "I’m thinking of applying [Law X], but [Variable Y] is making me doubt if that’s the right path." They will often give you a hint just to see how you use it. They may give you a random graph and ask you to deduce what this graph tells.
3. First Principles >> Formulas
They will take a concept you think you know—like Friction or Probability—and keep asking "Why?" until you hit a wall.
- Tip: If you can't explain a concept to a 10-year-old, you don't understand it well enough for IIIT-H. Stop memorizing shortcuts. Go back to the why behind every formula.
4. Language is a Tool, Not a Barrier (Hinglish is Okay)
One of the biggest fears students have is: "My English isn't formal/good enough."
My student with AIR 3 last year gave complete interview in Hindi.
- The Truth: The professors at IIIT-H care about the clarity of your logic, not the fluency of your English.
- Tip: If you are struggling to explain a complex logic in English, it is perfectly fine to switch to Hindi or use Hinglish. As long as your technical reasoning is sound, they won't penalize you for not being a Shakespeare. Clarity > Vocabulary.
5. Don’t Bluff (ASK FOR HINTS)
The professors are looking for "Research Spark." Guessing or bluffing is the fastest way to get rejected.
- Tip 1: "I don't know" is a perfectly valid answer, provided you follow it up with logic. Try: "I haven't studied this specific property, but based on [Related Concept], I’d hypothesize that..."
- Tip 2: If you don't know the answer or need more clarity, Ask for hints but avoid giving random explanations. Know a little about the branch that you wanna opt for.
6. Why Research? (The Dual Degree Question)
If your answer is "Placements are good," you’re finished.
- Tip: They want to know why you want a B. Tech + MS. Look up one specific lab at IIIT-H (like CVIT or LTRC). Know what they do. Show them you actually care about building something new.
Stop obsessing over the result. The final lap starts now.
See you at IIIT-H.

My score according to the rankers vision
In Supr 18-19
REAP-66-69
Can I clear cutoff?
I was able to confirm around 58/84 ques from TRV
I attempted 23 in SUPR and I think around 3-4 are wrong
I attempted 41 in REAP and think
5-6 are wrong.
And log bol rahe the reap ka cutoff kam hoga.
Koi hopium de do ki interview ke liye select ho jaunga
