Tre giorni a Trieste

Ciao gruppo!

Volevo organizzare qualche giorno a Trieste, indicativamente 30-05/2-06, avete consigli su dove alloggiare? Qualcosa di particolare, ma che non costi un rene? Vanno bene ostelli, hotel, appartamenti etc.

Se avete anche da consigliare qualche attività o qualche posto in particolare da non perdere, vi leggo!🌻

I’m gonna say it: a lot of osmize around Trieste feel like a straight-up scam.

You show up thinking you’re getting some rustic, hyper-local experience. What you actually get is overpriced prosciutto and salami that very often aren’t even made by the people serving them. But hey, it’s on a wooden board and there’s a tractor parked nearby, so I guess that’s “authentic.”

“Woah this coppa is so nice” — yeah, I swear I had the exact same one at Aldi in via Fabio Severo.

And don’t get me started on the food poetry: “oh my god ovi duri, so so good” — congrats, you boiled an egg. Truly groundbreaking stuff.

Then you’re sitting there, not in some idyllic countryside dream, but basically in someone’s garage or courtyard, paying premium prices for the privilege of hanging out at a wealthy carsolino’s place.

And the wine. Sorry, the vinegar. I get it, gasoline is expensive these days, but the taste and the effect on your nervous system feel… surprisingly comparable.

The whole thing is sold as tradition, but half the time it feels like branding. You’re not supporting small-scale production—you’re buying into a curated aesthetic with a markup.

I’m not saying every osmiza is like this, but enough of them are that the “hidden gem” narrative starts to wear pretty thin.

If I’m paying those prices, at least let the prosciutto actually come from your pigs. Otherwise just call it what it is: a backyard wine bar with excellent marketing.

Work from November to February - I don't speak italian

Hey! I'm a Brazilian student with German nationality and I was thinking about getting a job during my summer holidays ( as I'm from Brazil it is from November to February). My boyfriend lives in Nova Gorica so I thought of Trieste, which is way more international than Nova Gorica or Gorizia, this way I could work and sleep in his house for free :)

As I said in the title, I don't speak italian, but I'm fluent in English. Do you guys know any place I could work? I do ceramic classes and I would LOVE to work with ceramics, so that's my priority.

Thanks in advance

Hey, so i got my acceptance from university of trieste and i have to pre-enroll there but I got this message which I’m not sure what it means. Does it mean I have to give the CENT-S test or something else?

English translation of Italian authors

Hello, I’m visiting Trieste for a few days from Sunday and I’m wondering if there are any book shops that sell translated fiction? It’s so disappointing to go into a book shop and see there are English titles available, only to realise they are the same books sold everywhere. I am specifically looking for Italian/local authors that have had there work translated into English.

Anywhere I’ll be able to find this please?

Question about parking options in Trieste

Hello,

Going soon to Trieste, and I was wondering:

  1. Are there any free parking spots or cheap parking spots anywhere in the city?
  2. Is the parking on the street in the center free or is there some hourly rate/paying on the ticket machine/by sms type of system?

Thank you in advance!

Running in Porto Vecchio

Heyhey,

I just want to ask you about your experience with running in Porto Vecchio in Trieste.

I saw a lot of homeless people living there and I’m wondering if it’s safe to go for a run there as a woman?

What are your experiences?
