A Jaunt into Big Bend Ranch State Park, TX

Thought yall would enjoy these of my trusty partner “Jimbo” (named after the former owner I bought it from in 2019). This 91’ 22re has kept me alive during tx power grid failures, getting out to and back from the middle of nowhere and been a reliable workhorse on my Big Bend adventures while I built my house in Terlingua over 4 years.

I’d been to the lesser traveled state park a few times over the years, but hadn’t dropped into Fresno Canyon out to the flat irons of the Solitario. A memorable trip that for sure.

1983 4x4 Thermostat. What degrees of hot do I buy?

Internet is all over the place with the answer. It's either 180 degrees or 195 degrees, some are 160, some 190, pretty much my only options after punching my truck in to parts sites. Parts stores have all of them in stock and say "exact fit" for my Yota.

Middle Tennessee here, normal cold/freezing Winters, hot/blistering heat in the Summer.

I just can't figure out what OEM/Toyota calls for, for my 22R.

EDIT::: MY ACTUAL PROBLEM IS THE COOLANT RESERVOIR KEEPS FILLING UP, NEVER EMPTYING BACK INTO THE RADIATOR. No leaks, Rad. Cap replaced today, old one was bad. Pressure tested system = good, no leaks. NOT head gasket problem, did a leak down test.

I figured I can throw a Tstat at it and hope for the best. Tstat is probably 13 years old from last timing kit I did.

Only does this "fills up reservoir" when taking a 20 mile trip on the Interstate. Running a solid 70mph for 20 miles, get home, reservoir is full. I take a turkey baster, empty reservoir back into radiator, now radiator is full, and reservoir is exactly where it's supposed to be, right on the cold line. SO, again, no leaks.

NEVER happens while puttering around town/getting groceries/gas, even though I may drive/start/stop at stores over a 1-2 hour period, Traveling less than 20 miles.

New fan clutch 6 months ago. I'm stumped.

Can someone help me diagnose this problem on my 22re? (Repost)

I just put the starter in after the truck sat for about 10 months. After firing it up, it idled just fine, but when giving it throttle, it seemed to lag a lot and would sometimes pop. I think it might be the Throttle Position Sensor, but I’m not sure. Any ideas on what might be the issue?

How would I fix the fuel gauge? Stuck at 1/4 when I turn the car on. Goes to empty when it’s off.

how underpowered is the 22re compared to say the 3.4l in tacomas. i mean surely its not like unbearable. also are they batshit expensive like the first gen tacomas?
