r/TorontoRaves

Have been going solo a lot to raves recently and meet almost nobody, anyone else have similar experience?

I enjoy the music and spend the whole night dancing, but ultimately i see socializing and connection as an important part of raving. Other than the polite smile or dancing interaction, i experience almost zero connection to people, which i find kind of weird? Most of the time you can't really talk. And places like the smoke pit usually people hang out in groups, seemingly not open to others. But over hearing some of their conversations, i can hear that they just met there that night, so, what gives? How are people making these connections? I'm not looking for life long friends out here, just people to chit chat, maybe join a group to dance with, anyone have some tips?

GLOW

Who is going to glow this saturday? Anyone been to the previous ones have any insight?

Probably gonna be in the bass room most of the time especially for usaybflow but open to exploring. Any other artists that I should definitely see in any room?

Is it gonna be the typical rebel vibe, oversold etc

Or is having a few different flavors and freedom to move between them going to cause a better experience.

Raves on 24th April

hi guys, i just wanted to know if there’s any fun raves happening this friday? i am 21f and quite new to raving. willing to go and experience what this life is all about. if you have any ideas, let me know!

Question from an old former raver: do pretty much all events nowadays serve alcohol? (And other questions)

I’m a geriatric millennial nearing their mid-forties. I used to rave, in the late 1990s to maybe early 2000s, and don’t recall seeing alcohol served at the events I attended—or I just didn’t notice.

Alcohol seems to me like it… kind of doesn’t belong at a rave, like it’s conducive to the atmosphere. Or am I just old and weird and longing for ecstasy-fueled days of PLUR and jungle, techno and hardcore? Lol.

Entertain the musings of an old fart who still gets down—but, like, at home, usually on a Bluetooth speaker or earphones, and still enjoys a bit of breakbeat, 90s bouncy techno and happy hardcore (can’t stand most of the new stuff I’ve heard, sorry, sounds like obnoxious high-tempo generic pop-club feel-good music), ragga jungle, some drum n’ bass, techno and house—

—let me know what’s good out there for a geezer who might one day like to dance again, but for fewer hours, ha ha, without feeling out of place—and if just about everywhere is serving drinks nowadays.

I feel like it’s all changed so much in the last 20-odd years. Some parts probably have, but I’m delighted to see this city still has what sounds like a healthy scene.

Anyone out there who used to rave… and still does? What’s the same, what’s different?

System Toronto Event Feedback (El Mefti)

I feel like I need to apologize and put it out there that I made a comment in this sub the other day about not being sure if the higher ticket prices are worth it cause they made me eat my words.

Just wanted to say that u/systemtoronto did their BIG one last night. I thought the whole thing was really well organized and even though they were kind enough to give discount codes, i would easily pay full price going forward with no questions asked. All of the organizers and staff were pleasant to deal with, the music was great right till the very end, everything was easy to find (bathrooms, merch, drinks, etc), guys weren't being weird or touchy like at regular clubs, and overall just did not have a single complaint.

literally had more fun last night than on my birthday.

for anyone debating checking out system toronto events, highly recommend. i was skeptical and hesitant and now just wish I had attended the earlier events. they will be seeing me again

Last month we were given the opportunity to open for Andy C inside Canada's largest nightclub! 🇨🇦 This is our first professionally recorded set and we prepared for this like no tomorrow. We are extremely proud of the end result and would love to share it with you all!

Cabana DJ set times

Going to Cabana for the first time this summer. I know a lot of rap singers only perform 3 or 4 songs. Do DJs perform a full set or only a few songs like singers?
