Texas law makes it nearly impossible for an Independent to run. I’m trying to change that.
Hey everyone—I’m a local attorney and mediator, and I’m running as an Independent for Justice of the Peace (Precinct 3). I’m reaching out to Millennials and Gen Zers because, under the current "Old Guard" rules, your choice for November has basically already been made for you.
Right now, the Republican nominee (the sibling of a local Constable) is set to waltz into the JP seat with zero opposition. No debate, no alternative—just a hand-off.
I am fighting to get on the ballot to provide a choice, but the barriers are high:
- The Requirement: To qualify as an Independent, I need 500 qualified signatures from registered voters in Precinct 3.
- The "Trap": If you voted in the Republican primary, the state legally bars you from signing my petition.
- The Opportunity: If you voted Democratic or didn’t vote in the primary at all, you are the only ones legally allowed to sign. You are the "Secret Weapon" to breaking this monopoly.
- The Progress: I’ve hit 136 signatures so far through pure shoe leather, but I need your help to cross the finish line.
I believe a judge should be a neutral mediator, focused on efficiency and the law, not a partisan handover. I’m not asking for your vote yet—I’m just asking for your help to make sure there is a vote.
I will come to you. My goal is 5 signatures a day during the week and 36 on weekends. If you want to see a choice on your ballot, email me at electchuckmeyer@gmail.com and I’ll put you and your neighbors on my block-walk schedule.
Let’s make sure we have an election for JP3, not a coronation.
