Which pump should I get

Hi
I just got approved from the insurance that I can basically get any pump that I want
Either 780 or omnipod or tandem
I’m currently with Medtronic 640 and Dexcom g7.
Any suggestion for the omnipod ? Is it stable ? Can u do runs with it? Do u fell it on your body? From what I’m seeing online its looks a bit big and heavy.
Thanks

Avoid AutoSoft 90

Recently my insurance forced me away from Tandem to get my infusion sets. So I went with Byram Healthcare (there are no good options out there, I looked). On my first order the operator said something about the XC being unavailable (not true) and switched me to the 90. I went with it not understanding the difference. I just installed my first 90 and I am absolutely livid. This set requires two hands to disconnect! I was starting on a fresh side so that first one is always closer to my back. I can't disconnect because I can't get both of my hands to that location! Honestly I couldn't even understand how it was supposed to work so I wasted one so that I could look at it closely. Even with two hands (and not attached to my body) this thing is hard to disconnect. Now I have 5 months worth of these things to deal with. I can only say that NO ONE should use these if the XC is available. And if they try to pull this next time I'll definitely search for another provider. <rant over>

My 1st time using the Mobi sleeve & 5" tubing - Oy! Do these sleeves survive showers?

I plan to remove the Mobi & tubing from the sleeve & infusion set in order to shower. Will the sleeve hold up to getting wet & a little soapy? I used skin tac to help it adhere better. I used to have Omnipod 5 and I was a little shocked at the appearance of all this gear.

Tandem t:slim X2 Micro USB Cover Replacement?

Hey does anyone have advice for replacing the micro USB cover on the Tandem t:slim X2? The cover is almost about to rip off from my pump and when I tried placing an order through Diabetes Express, they said the cover is on backorder and they don't know when their getting more. Is there any other products that help cover the micro USB port so dirt or sand doesn't get into the pump?

Correction bolus not needed, caused low

Why would it give me almost a unit of insulin when it saw I was trending down? It wasn't needed so it caused me to go low and I had to eat a sandwich and cookies which you can't see reflected on this graph but that's why I only gave .1 and .05 to show that I was eating something.

Well I done some searching and this is what I've discovered about what's going on with Tandem's supply problems.

Based on reports and FDA filings as of early 2026, Tandem Diabetes Care has faced several manufacturing, software, and supply chain challenges affecting their insulin pumps.

- Key Issues in 2025-2026:

⚠️ Tandem Mobi Software Issues:

The Tandem Mobi insulin pump was subject to a Class 1 recall—the most serious type—due to a software issue that could cause false vibration motor failures, leading to Malfunction 12, which stops insulin delivery.

⚠️ t:slim X2 Malfunction 16 (Speaker Issue):

A voluntary correction was issued for t:slim X2 pumps due to a potential speaker-related wire failure that triggers "Malfunction 16," stopping insulin delivery and breaking communication with the CGM. This issue led to hundreds of reports of high blood sugar (hyperglycemia).

⚠️ Infusion Set Supply Constraints:

Due to manufacturing constraints at their supplier, Convatec (Unomedical), supply delays for TruSteel infusion sets are expected to persist through 2026.

⚠️ Manufacturing Quality Control Issues:

The FDA sent a warning letter to supplier Unomedical regarding leaking infusion sets used by Tandem, which can lead to insulin under-delivery.

⚠️ Battery and Charging Issues:

Recent, separate adverse event reports have highlighted issues with t:slim X2 pumps experiencing rapid battery depletion or bent USB ports, resulting in charging failures.

⚠️ Mitigation Actions:

Tandem is providing software updates to address the Mobi and t:slim X2 issues.

Users are advised to monitor for specific error alerts (Malfunction 12 or 16) and ensure they have a backup method of insulin delivery.

Tandem has maintained that if a device has not shown these specific errors, it is generally safe to continue use while awaiting updates.

It would have been nice to know about some of this 💩 that's been going on at Tandem. 😡

It looks like anyone using TruSteel Infusion Sets aren't going to see any supply issues fixed until 2027. 🤬

Until Tandem's supplier gets their 💩 together, probably in China, Infusion Sets are going to be thin for quite awhile. I'm guessing probably late this summer before we can actually get what we ordered shipped to us.

God help us, if someone has multiple site failures in a row. It could wipe out their supply of Infusion Sets.

Oh joy! 😒

Mobi Night Goals

Any pointers and best practices on pump setting to get better numbers overnight? I start my sleep schedule at 8PM but I still run 150-170 overnight, while in the daytime I have in range numbers. I'm having trouble finding the sweet spot for nighttime.
Thanks!

I solved my Mobi occlusion problem

And honestly I'm not happy about it. This may not solve YOUR Mobi occlusion issue, but it so clearly solved mine that I have to share about it (and apologize!).

Like a lot of other people, I started having frequent occlusion alarms on my Mobi. It didn't seem to matter if the site was new or old, and on the few occasions where I actually took the site off, it was never bent. I'd get the alarm, resume insulin, re-start my bolus (because it almost always occurred during a bolus) and I'd be fine. Sometimes I had to make several attempts before a bolus would go through, but eventually it always would.

I called customer service about it almost a year ago, and they had me go through all the troubleshooting, of course my site was fine, etc etc. They wouldn't replace the pump at that point. So months go by, with the false occlusions happening periodically, but I was generally too annoyed or too busy to bother calling them again. About a month ago, it was happening over and over so I called it in. They can see my data in Source so there was no sense telling a tale (haha), I am diligent about changing my site every 3 days, but I would fill the cartridge and only change when empty, which was more like every 5 days. Of course, they suggested that I put less insulin in the cartridge and change both site and cartridge every 3 days. And since then, I have not had another false occlusion alarm.

So, yeah. For all the times I said to other people, "don't worry about changing your cartridge every 3 days", I'm sorry, that was bad advice. I definitely think the Mobi is more sensitive than the t:slim (I did the same practice on that pump, but never had false occlusions). I'm glad to have the problem solved, but annoyed that it was sort of my fault in the first place.

What do I do with an old pump?

Before you tell me to keep it as a backup, I already have a backup! I have the first t-slim I ever had, another that just went out of warranty, and a third new one I’m currently using. So I don’t need pump #1 as a backup, the software is ancient anyway.

Feels like a waste to take it to the e-waste recycling center. Anyone find any interesting solutions or ideas?

Mobi and dexcom location question

I have been on the mobi for close to a month. It's the first pump I have ever been on (38 yo, diagnosed T1 about 6 years ago). The nurse who did my training told me I always need to have the mobi and my dexcom sensor on the same side of my body. I like my dexcom on the back of my arm and my mobi on my stomach. I am fairly fit (6', 163 pounds) and am running into times where I either need to end my dexcom early or keep trying to go with my mobi on whatever side they are both on and try to get the dates aligned where I can switch both (in order to keep both on the same side)

Is it really that sensitive to need them both on the same side? I am assuming this is because of signal loss but is it that weak of signal?

I am sure it's possible to have them on opposite sides for a few days but can anyone give me their thoughts and experiences? I would rather end my dexcom early and have them on matching sides if it makes the pump connection a lot more flakey.

Thanks!

Tandem USB Cable

Has anyone had success connecting their pump to the laptop for Tandem Source without the tandem branded cable? I cannot find my Tandem cable, I need to update my software to get prescribed the Dexcom 15 day CGM. My pump won’t connect to Source. Ugh!

My teen is starting on tandem mobi later this week. Should I buy a portable magnetic charger for them to carry at schl? Or do we need to buy an extra battery from tandem (is that even possible)?

Moving over from omnipod, so new to the idea of battery management instead of just tossing this one & putting on a new pod.

Thanks for your help!

Has anyone had issues with Lispro?

I was on Humalog 200U/mL until insurance said they wouldn't cover it anymore. So, dr put me on Lispro. Seems like my body doesn't use it as well. More often than not, my blood sugar stays elevated all day.

or example, fasting glucose is usually around 110 or less. I'll bolus for breakfast, eat and then watch it ramp up into the 200's. I'll turn temp basal rate on to 200% for a couple hours and give a correction bolus. Glucose "might" come down to normal ranges by the time I'm ready to eat lunch. I'll bolus again for lunch, eat and watch my glucose ramp up. But instead of coming back down, they'll just settle at an elevated range and stay there for hours on end. I'll the same for dinner and glucose will remain elevated or ramp up higher. And then, some time after I go to bed, it'll reset itself back to normal ranges.

It's the most frustrating thing to deal with. I've increased ratios to help deal, but nothing makes it better. I'll have days here and there where my numbers stay good all day, but usually they don't. I don't snack between meals unless I'm really craving something. My brakfast this morning consisted of 3 cooked eggs with salt/pepper and shredded cheese with a container of yogurt (6g of carbs). I went from 100 something up over 200 and I bolused for 10g of carbs. It don't make sense. I could've eaten a full course breakfast for those numbers. And just a little while ago, I was in the 180's, did a correction bolus and increased basal rate and the best it could do was drop me 20 points and then go back up. I have checked my G7 on several occasions and the readings were within a few points of each other.

Anyways, I don't know if it's the insulin, insulin resistance, something to do with CKD or what. All I know is, my control isn't near what it used to be when I started the pump a couple years ago. I do take 3 different diuretics, a blood thinner and blood pressure meds. I've researched their affects on glucose and most places say none of them should influence my glucose that much. I do feel dehydrated from the diuretics and drink fluid to rehydrate despite my nephrologist telling me not to drink anything.

I'm probably in the minority of pump users who have T2D. So, if anyone can relate, please let know what you've done to "fix" this. Thanks!

Hi,

I am orienting about the tandem mobi as I may want to use this in the future. I have a question, is it possible to remove the sticker from the anchoring patch from the trusteel cannula?

Right now I use the accu chek insight with their steel cannula and it doesn't have an anchoring patch. I like this design, since it never gets ripped out and my skin is sensitive.

Interestsed to hear if this is possible and if others use this technique.

Thanks!

Just received my T2 Slim replacement today and it won’t charge.
Called Tandem support who had me try it on another charging pad Still wouldn’t charge.
So the solution? They are sending me another charging pad!
We discovered in the call it’s the Mobi not the charger but we are doing this. Ugh.

EDIT: After a few hours. I tried again and it suddenly worked. Weird. I’ll see how the next few days go

Waiting to Start Pump on May 20th; Question About Software Update

I start the t:slim X2 Insulin Pump after my education class on May 20th.

I know it's a standalone system; that's a huge reason why I got this pump.

But I'm just wondering if any of you have updated your IOS to the 26.5 update and if so, does it work? I accidentally hit update without thinking about it. The Tandem site says the pump is cleared for 26, but nothing later.

Thank you for your help.

My mom got me this pump case about 5-6 years ago, and some of the pink plastic is starting to crack, and I love this case. It holds on to my clothes so well and I want to get another one once this one breaks. However, I don’t remember the name of the brand, and the receipt email is long gone in my mother’s inbox lol. I wanted to see if anybody recognized it? TIA!

Extra phone for Tandem T:Slim mobile app or accept only view function with current phone

Hi,

Today, I noticed that the app for my T:Slim X2 is finally available in the Netherlands. Now I have a dilemma: my current phone is a 6-month-old Fairphone 6. I was able to install the T:Slim app, but it can only read the pump. I still have an old Samsung S20+ that is supported (for how much longer, though?).

Is it worth carrying two phones just so I can deliver a bolus via my phone, or should I just accept that I can only view the pump’s information on my phone and be happy with that? Replacing my Fairphone with a compatible phone is not an option.

The cartridge fill discrepancies

Hey all, I have been using my tslim x:2 for a couple of weeks now and it has been amazing (I am waking up to BG readings of 80–100, which has been unfathomable to me for the past few years while doing MDI). I came across several posts about this but still don't have a full understanding based on the answers I saw, so I am asking again here.

I have noticed that with the insulin cartridges I've filled thus far, my pump is almost never recognizing the amount I have injected into the cartridge. I know there is a calibration period after filling/installing a new cartridge, but, for example, this evening I filled a cartridge with a full syringe of 300 units of insulin (same as my pump trainer did during the setup and advised me to do). I removed some air from the cartridge before emptying the syringe into it with no apparent issues. After installing the cartridge, my pump indicated an amount of 240+, which obviously made sense. Four hours later, it is now reading 180+.

I realize that "180+" doesn't necessarily mean there is 180 units in there—it suggests there's just more than 180—but seeing a drop like that is alarming to me as I begin to worry about whether or not the pump has somehow dispensed 60+ units of insulin since I've installed the cartridge. Obviously I would be aware if that were the case because I'd be facing an extremely dangerous hypo (which I'm not), but as someone who has a significant fear of hypos and overdosing myself with insulin, I am always on high alert about stuff like this.

I suppose my question is, where is this insulin going—and am I doing something wrong when filling the cartridge? Or is it simply that the pump is not giving an accurate read on what's in the reservoir? I know that some insulin is lost when you fill the tubing (it's tended to be around 10–15 units for me so far each time), but that still doesn't account for a disparity of up to 120 units.

Any input on this would be helpful and give me some peace of mind. I am genuinely confused by this.

I think we’ve all heard that you’re not supposed to have your CGM or pump exposed to radiation at TSA check. Is there anyone at all who ever had this happen and cause pump or CGM damage? I’ll confess: I put my pump in carry on and wear my CGM through low dose scanner.
