In politics, playing the victim of a "corrupt system" is highly effective. By having the movie stalled, and then mysteriously leaked, it fuels the narrative that the ruling powers are terrified of Vijay’s message. A pirated HD movie spreads like wildfire, It instantly reaches the rural and urban youth demographics TVK’s primary target audience free of cost, ensuring absolute maximum viewership right when voter minds are being made up. It rallies his fan base and turns the movie's suppression into a major campaign talking point. Also it is a double-edged sword of epic proportions. It prioritizes immediate, aggressive political reach over massive financial ruin and the sanctity of Vijay's farewell to cinema.

However the sheer collateral damage is staggering ₹500 crore sacrifice.

If this was intentional, He is putting his entire lifelong legacy on the line for this one shot at the Chief Minister's seat just to satisfy his ego. 🥵

Recently Vignesh (Abhishtu) has made a video about ranking CM candidates and had trolled stalin. so adhuku kothadimais were abusing him till date in his comment section with his caste(noolandi, all those kind of stuff).

so whenever someone makes a comment about Stalin they immediately dig our background and if they get to know you're from a brahmin bg they will blindly start their hate and call them with names going as deep as they could, as a society we all grew up and stopped mocking someone based on their caste but is it only for lower castes, still nool, iyer, thayir sadham kind of caste based terms have been used against them for their opinions even though they haven't revealed or made a statement anything about caste, idk why this is not being called out in the society

I feel like this whole “who leaked the movie” debate is missing the bigger picture.

To me it actually looks like a calculated move. The film is clearly anti-BJP and takes shots at AIADMK especially around themes like communal violence, shooting and political manipulation. At no point does it seriously target DMK (at least from what I understood). That itself tells you where the messaging is aimed.

The narrative strongly pushes the idea that Hindu–Muslim–Christian hatred is manufactured by politicians, and that’s a direct ideological hit. Naturally, that makes it uncomfortable for bjp.

Now look at the censorship angle , why was there resistance?

Simple, no one wants to lose BJP or AIADMK vote banks, especially when BJP is aggressively trying to establish itself in Tamil Nadu.

Another interesting angle is alliances. BJP aligning with AIADMK earlier already created confusion and backlash. Many common voters don’t even fully understand what “NDA” is, they only react to the BJP name. Rebranding through nda alliances is a strategy to dilute that perception.

Coming to Vijay if he’s truly against the BJP, why doesn’t he openly speak in campaigns?

We’ve already seen what happened in Karur and how agencies like ED/CBI are used as pressure tools. BJP’s biggest strength has been pulling influential figures (especially actors) into their orbit.

So what if there was pressure?

Possibly:

Option 1: Align politically

Option 2: Go all out against DMK but stay silent on BJP

But he didn’t fully comply.

Instead, this film becomes the middle path.

It avoids directly naming the BJP in obvious places, but the messaging is still clear. And releasing (or even leaking) it around election time? That’s not random that’s strategy.

If the leak did come from his side, then it’s actually a win-win:

The message reaches people uncensored

It indirectly hits BJP’s ideology

It creates sympathy (“they tried to suppress this”)

It becomes an election tool without formal campaigning

And honestly, even for someone like me who isn’t a Vijay fan and a hardcore hater of him ,while watching the film, there was a moment of guilt and reflection. That emotional impact is exactly what makes this effective.

End of the day, the core message lands: Don’t let politicians divide people through religion and hatred.Say no to bjp/aiadmk
