Blue: Mentor Tank
Red: Myself
Green: Anxious first run healer
Yellow: Random FC member
I’m fairly new to the game, and I hadn’t had an experience with rude or unhelpful mentors until today. I saw everyone here mention experiences, but never thought I’d see anything, even minor, myself.
Until today. Got Sastasha (Hard) in Duty Roulette. At first everyone says hi but the tank, which aight maybe they’re just not up to talking, or don’t want to. We hit the first boss and the healer is doing decently well except they seem to be struggling to understand the tail screw mechanic, but they’re healing and DPSing which is nice.
Tail screw wipes us, because the healer doesn’t know the debuff interacts with the attack. They panic and flail to heal suddenly low DPS HP. No biggie, it’s their first time here. But immediately the tank attacks the healer for DPSing, and not heal spamming.
The healer is a bit put out so I try to help with a little explanation best I can typing on controller, we try again and they mess up. They’re more than a bit flustered now, but the tank mentor keeps berating them.
Eventually it plays out as above, in the last few messages. The healer tried to res me bc I didn’t return bc I was typing and that just pissed them off more, I tried to vote kick bc the healer really was beating themselves up at this point but I knew we could do the fight.
We did wipe one more time because I was at the start trying to vote kick, or leave if I had to, and wasn’t there, and I’m not sure the black mage engaged either.
Idk if you can’t handle a couple of mistakes from a sprout in a level 50 dungeon, on their first run? Maybe turn that crown off, imo.
Oh, I said I was going to leave bc I voted to kick and it didn’t seem to go through, but after a moment of hesitation it did and they were replaced with a new tank who was wonderful and patient with the two first timers and we cleared the fight first attempt with our new tank. So.
After 5 years, I finally have something to post here but….not at all what I expected LOL. Honestly probably one of the wildest WoD interactions I’ve seen LOL one person made a “funny numbers” joke after someone said they wanted to speed run to beat reset. One guy took the whole thing VERY personally LOL
Talking about parses and personally coming after someone for their logs in Alliance chat is SURELY a choice. One bro just didn’t know what a goose egg was, could have just explained but instead publicly called out the dude’s logs LOL insane, insane behavior
Also are we still blaming the WoW exodus ages after it happened and most people returned to WoW? What does being an Incel have to do with this? I don't get people.
normalish run of brayflox longstop except I had someone preach about Jesus at the start of it, idk what they hope to achieve with this but it was very weird to see
Queue into The Meso Terminal on WAR. One of the first pack of mobs always spam these circle AoE's and my lazy ass just tanks them since I can just use my abundance of healing abilities to heal myself back up immediately after. I suppose this didn't sit right with the AST though, since right after I pulled the first boss I got this message.
I meant this as in, I could take care of the "optional damage" myself and the healer didn't need to worry about it but, I guess they took it the wrong way because from that point on the AST completely stopped healing me. No big deal though, I just continued to mitigate and heal with my own abilities and we successfully completed the dungeon with no issues.
I scrambled to explain myself better after the final boss but the AST immediately left.
Honestly having to use my full kit to survive for once was actually kind of fun. First time tank? I just finished the dungeon with functionally no healer, surely that is at least a liiittle impressive no? /s But hey at least the DPS got my back, love that guy!
Edit: I wasn't paying attention and said SCH instead of AST when making this post.
Not sure what the two healers were doing. Just did the Lighthouse from Ivalice raids and the duo healers really didn't heal all that often. Whole party wiped at Robot and final boss.
Everytime Thordan normal appears in my roulettes, I always play it up for fun, just in the case I manage to convince an unsuspecting sprout that the fight isn't a complete joke (it really needs some tuning). With Cape Westwind and Steps of Faith being relegated to solo duties, Thordan is kinna like the only low level trial I can pull this off with.
Yesterday I was running mentor roulette on scholar. Queued into The Twinning with a viper, red mage, and sprout tank. Tank was fine, we wiped on one pull from a missed interrupt- everyone was very chill because ya know, shit be happening. At the last boss I *think* tank was freaked about the frozen lazers? I'm not sure but he was moving like craaaaazy lmao mini Alexander was all over the place. Postionals were impossible.
So at one point the viper just sheathed their weapons and started RP walking toward me and the red mage out of frustration. It was such a small moment but it was cinema and I am still laughing about it. Didn't make the tank feel bad for it, just took a moment of silence for their missed positionals.
Shout out to that Viper if you see this xD I wish FF's messaging system didn't make it so difficult for me to just shoot you a tell!
I have learned my lesson, knockback on the flesh back/flesh forward is NOT FORGIVING (that's how i died three times) aside from that, for some reason the Samurai jumped off, probably to get on the platform early but it failed
(not sure how to think about this lol
I queued into Haukke Manor said the usual greetings and did the peloton.
Drk tank did not move. So I attacked. Me and the other DPS killed the group because its Haukke. No heals from the WHM either.
It repeats. Tank does not move or attack so I do and pull the enemy back.
Tank: You wanna tank the entire dungeon? I'll let you.
Me: well then Tank.
Or be a good one (And I was a jerk for saying this ill admit but i was frustrated by then)
Tank: Youre pulling everything so you must really want to (tank)
Me: someone has to
Whm: bum dps
Me: and griefing is against the rules
Then I was kicked. When I went to report the griefing I found the Tank and the healer were from the same world which made sense because the healer was also doing nothing.
Did a 100 roul with a FC mate the other day and got this RPR in Yuweyawata. Didn't really notice anything was off until the last 2 pulls when I noticed them wandering away from the first pull after the 2nd boss. Then on the final pull I saw them running into the wall for a few moments. On the last boss, he just stood in AOEs several times and died. When it did the Beastly Roar mechanic, he just ate it. Died of course. I wish I could cancel other people's subs. Please, Yoshi-P.
And just to note on the auto attacks, by comparison, I had 305 and the PLD had 276. So the RPR wasn't even in melee range like half the time.
got some savage brained people in m10n yesterday and i just remembered to share it
someone put down markers for m10s and i got a preview of savage mode lol
Hopped into Normal Raid Roulette, trying to get a few tomes, and I get Cruise Chaser. The fight goes on for a while and we start seeing mechanics I've never even seen before. We wipe, I have a look around to see what everyone's doing and why DPS is so low when I notice this specimen. We try again, wipe again, and then I quit because I've had enough.
This person ONLY uses Nightmare Scythe. I ask them wtf are they doing, of course they don't reply and someone has the audacity to say "don't be rude, they're new".
Doing a quick trial roulette before I PF reclear M12S, and I get Innocence. I notice that one of the two black mages is walking around the arena. Not running, but RP walking. I then notice that they are casting freeze on single target very often. The chat was empty. The photos show just how bad he was. There was no chat with more context to screenshot.
They are not new, I was curious so I looked them up afterwards. They have every job to level 100, including gatherers and crafters. There is no excuse. At no point were they just standing doing nothing, they were always at least rp walking.
I hope they were trolling or something, because even from all the bad players I've seen in the years I've played this game I find it hard to believe that there is someone this bad out there with all jobs at max level. It's bad enough that I wonder if it's a bought account.
I guess I'm extra disappointed because I main caster, and right now am focusing on BLM. Although in this case I was the RDM.
good old gem from 2024.
doing leveling roulette on my alt and got a classic tam tara, WHM said hes leveling his last healer and tank said i trust you then at the start, pulling the usual wall to wall, no one dies, thought it will be just regular quick leveling roulette until WHM stopped and start yapping.
I guess I should preface this by saying I know I'm not really looking great in this one.
When I called it a skill issue I meant it mostly as a joke- Cause it was. I know Repose is not really well known tech on the turtle so I didn't really expect them to have it on bar.
The only reason I brought it up was because both DPS were Melee so it would have saved some time to have Repose interrupts; but it wasn't like a life or death situation.
But the healer seemed to overreact a lot, this dragged into the next boss where they were typing the middle of boss mechs, they died twice during the fight as a result. Just for clarity we didn't start the fight until after "I had said I have it on my healers just fine." Hence why I didn't say anything to the two other messages before we won, I was focused on the boss. I had to clean up the boss alone with the PLD.
I dunno- Like I said I'm not exactly the good guy in the situation but I didn't expect it to be that big of a deal. Certainly not enough of an argument to drag into the boss room.
tl;dr: Not mad but genuinely confused and I'm not sure if I found a troll, a lazy fuck or someone who genuinely doesn't know how to play the game.
Friend wanted to do roulettes, I said sure, why the fuck not. Party up, he's on sage and I'm on black mage. We queue up, and it's a wait before the first roulette he chose, alliance, to pop.
When it finally did pop, we were both pleasantly surprised that it was Royal City of Rabidnasty. I'm just glad it wasn't Crystal Tower for the umpteenth time again this week. We get to the first boss, and after a bit my friend noticed that a viper in our party was bottom of the barrel in aggro compared to everyone else, including the healers.
Second boss we noticed it more, even after some of our dps died and were raised, he would get bumped back down in aggro. I ended up flipping the number monkey on when the second trashset after the second boss was dead, because something was seriously wrong with this viper.
Third boss I get to see that the viper in question was literal bottom of the barrel in dps, and both of us were wondering why. It had been a while since I last played viper myself, so watching the guy keep his distance then come in close to the boss and then run away was just baffling to see. He kept this up on the last boss as well when we both were paying attention to him.
We cleared with some deaths, interestingly enough said viper did not die, and I take a moment to look at the logs.
Writhing Snap spam. Literal Writhing Snap spam. Everything else looks like a misclick.
And then I looked him up on the Lodestone because this has to be someone who just unlocked viper.
No, no he was not new to viper.
How in the holy fuck do you get to level 98 as a viper and not have some sort of idea of how the job plays? You have so many shiny buttons at your disposal, even in a lvl 70 raid, to NOT be THE bottom guy.
My friend, who loves viper, took a look at the logs and decided that was enough roulettes for the day and asked if we could just do Occult Crescent instead.
I honestly thought Viper wasn't that hard to learn. It's like monk but with a few extra steps. Then again I have to remind myself that a lot of players out there, if you lower the bar to the floor, still can't make it over.
