Where do I find a 2 or 3ct lavender/periwinkle asccher cut lab sapphire? I have my heart set on one! I am in the UK but I am not finding anything so would really appreciate some expert advice. Please and thank you!
675 Ct Ruby
Here is a 675 ct, 45 mm, synthetic ruby cut by Eric Bardawil from giant boules grown by Union Carbide in the 1980s. These crystals were intended for use in the lasers of the Strategic Defense Initiative (the so called “Star Wars” program), which never came to fruition. This is the largest faceted synthetic corundum I have seen anywhere and if not the largest ever, it must certainly be near the top of the list. It is perfect and completely loupe clean. Just sharing and not for sale.
Sharing a crescent moon ring I made in silver, with a 7.4mm cut Moissanite (I'm a gem cutter too). I absolutely love how it matches the box ✨ Happy Friday!
Paraiba colored yttrium aluminium garnet
2.76ct 6.58mm x 6.57mm x 5.62mm
Love that color soo much !!
I am more I interested in the color changing properties of Alexandrite rather than its pleochroism. Would you advice a less faceted cut(Like an emerald cut) if colour change is what I am more interested in? Also what are your opinions on Jeff Davies alexandrite? Is it the best choice or there’s better?
Domed Honeycomb Round 8.38mm x 6.80mm. The color is a bit lighter saturation than the last one I posted.
Trying to learn why some lab sapphires are 1000usd and others are 50usd.
I understand diamonds quite well. You've got pavilion angles, crown angles, light return, ray tracing etc. You've got certificates with cut grades, you've got the other 3C's, you can analyse ASET images, assess the symmetry of the H&A patterns, etc etc.
What's the equivalent of the above for corundum? Would someone here care to point me in the right direction, or outline a framework of assessment? Much thanks.
Actually I have the same question for other gemstones I'm interested in - garnets and spinels, but for the sake of keeping goals reasonable, I'm starting with sapphire.
Hi ! Finally received my dream pendant ! I’ll share everything in a comment below 😍
5.86ct Lab grown mint green Sapphire , cushion cut
This is a commission for an engagement ring. The colors are kinda close. It's really hard to get the camera to get the color right. First image is a mix of incandescent and LED and the second pic was taken outdoors on a lightly cloudy day.
Looking for a lighter red stone which lets the shine through - does that even exist?? I've looked at rubies and fancy diamonds but everything I'm seeing is very dark akin to the first pic. Or the lighter tones are very light pinks which I'm trying to avoid.
I loved the shine and brightness of the 2nd pic which is a vivid blue fancy diamond. Can that even exist in a red?
It would ideally be a 2ct oval diamond or 10x8 mm for another gemstone.
Stone 1 of 5 for SGDQprize support (NFS)
8mm Cubic Zirconia.
Custom cut pattern made by myself and u/cowsruleusall
Bonus points for ID'ing what game the stone is from.
3.19 ct 9.1mm Lab-created Alexandrite
The first stone that I've cut from a new (to me) piece of HDSM rough, this lab alex shows strong trichroism, light microscopic inclusions, and a screaming green color outdoors that my camera cannot capture. NFS - my wife has first dibs =)
