DO NOT order for try the world. This is genuinely the worst subscription box i have ever received. i paid $60 for literal free samples, and no items from the countries I chose!

I was unaware of all the terrible reviews because I got the box as a gift for my birthday using their “get a gift for somebody” option. I put in the code and redeemed the box I was gifted and was STILL charged shipping so I had to put in my card number. A month later i received a $60 charge on my card from this company!!! They had signed me up for their subscription!!! I IMMEDIATELY emailed them for a refund on this box I did not want, saying this was a mistake. I did not opt in for their subscription I only put in the gift code. In what world would someone who’s redeeming their gift want to join a subscription????? They said there was nothing they could do about it except cancel my subscription for future orders and would not refund me.

They make it so the “gift” doesn’t cover shipping, so you have to input a credit card number and boom. They have your card and can charge you the next month for this “subscription”.

Fast forward almost two months the first original box showed up. It’s actual garbage. A quick google search shows it’s all from America (except for a couple of things), it’s all sample size items and there is no information inside saying what country these items are from! I put in multiple different countries and didn’t receive anything from my choices. I don’t even know if my second unwanted box is coming because they don’t provide ANY shipping information.

I’m heartbroken because I feel scammed out of a lot of money. Please learn from my mistake and DO NOT order from this company. I’m honestly concerned they might charge my card again after seeing others reviews.

Tokyo Treat is a horrible company. Do not buy.

You try to buy a cool Christmas gift for your niece and they go rouge.

Bought an annual subscription for over 500$. My niece received a box every month but a year later in December they auto- renewed me and would not allow me to cancel.

I have received zero boxes this year because I disputed on my credit card yet they refuse to refund my money. They are offering Only a coupon or they will send me more boxes. I DONT WANT ANYTHING except my money.

Is this going to go on forever. Will I ever get out from underneath this. Will I have to cancel my credit card this December so I am not charged every year for the rest of my life.

STEAR CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY.

I have been to Japan several times. The company does not follow the rules of good Japanese behavior.

Most subscription gifts fail for the same reason. The recipient didn't ask for it, doesn't build a habit around it, and quietly lets it lapse when the gifted period ends or passes it back to you to cancel because they feel bad doing it themselves.

The question that determines whether it works: does this replace something they already do or introduce something they'd never choose on their own?

Replace something they do: probably redundant. They already have a solution for that problem even if it's imperfect. A meal kit subscription for someone who already cooks doesn't fix anything, it just adds friction.

Introduce something new: much higher ceiling. If the subscription puts them in contact with something they'd never have found or chosen, the habit can form around the discovery itself. That's the mechanism that keeps people subscribed past the gifted period.

For example, I got vinyl moon for my partner last year, $34 a month, sends a curated record with ten different artists monthly. He'd never have subscribed himself because he didn't know it existed and wasn't sure he needed it. Two months in he was looking forward to it. That's the introduce category working correctly.

The replace category almost always fails. The introduce category has a real shot if the product is good.

I honestly did not notice how many subscriptions I had until I checked my bank app properly a few days ago...

At first it was just one fun box I ordered for myself. Then I added another one after seeing reviews online. After that came a snack box, a streaming subscription and a couple free trials that quietly turned into paid plans without me noticing.

None of them felt expensive on their own so I never really thought much about it. But together it ended up being much more money every month than I expected.

What annoyed me the most was how difficult some companies make it to cancel. Signing up takes two minutes, but cancelling can take forever. One wanted me to email support, another kept suggesting I pause instead of cancel and one made me search through account settings for almost fifteen minutes.

I still like subscription boxes and I am keeping the ones I actually use, but this whole thing made me realize how easy it is to keep paying for things you forgot about.

Has this happened to anyone else here or do I just need to get better at keeping track of subscriptions?

Best Dog bandana I’ve bought tbh

Absolutely obsessed with our order from Waggy Wear! The quality is amazing, the bandanas fit perfectly, and the designs are even cuter in person. I love how soft the material feels and how many compliments my pup gets whenever we go out. You can really tell this is a small business that cares about their customers and dogs. We’ll definitely be ordering again!

Best comic subscription?

Looking for a good comic book subscription, Ive seen a few physical boxes like loot crate and comic book grab bags but idk if theyre actually worth it or if youre just getting random leftover stock nobody wanted. Are there any comic subscription boxes that actually curate good stuff, or is digital the better route at this point? Open to either physical or digital just want good value for the money
