It emerged from our bathroom ceiling over 24 hours

Forgive me, but this is truly not not what I planned to encounter today…

We live in a condo and it emerged from the ceiling of our small bathroom over a short time span. I’m not actually sure whether it’s electrical wiring that looks biological or a fairytale-esque magic mushroom or something far more sinister.

If anyone could please look at the attached images and let me know what on earth I’m looking at or even the general category of such a thing I would greatly appreciate it!

Interesting Algae Patterns?

Does anybody know what causes this formation of algae? Or what type it might be? (I know nothing about algae but stumbling upon this made me want to know more!)

Edit: this is in a pond in southwestern ontario, canada

Hi All!

Firstly, my apologies if this isn’t allowed in this sub.

I am a stay at home mum in Pimpama and I create framed taxidermy pieces and insect art. I usually sell them online however I’ve recently made this taxidermy Indian Myna frame that I’ve realised I can’t ship! 😅

If anyone on the Gold Coast would like to buy it I’d be happy to drop it off at your door!

The frame is 32cm x 44cm.

Taxidermy Indian Myna with real skull, preserved heath aster flowers and reindeer moss, and amethyst crystals.

Does not have front glass! Will only require occasional dusting and has been preserved properly to last.

$196

If no one grabs it, it’ll be available at the GC & Hinterland Artisan Market on the 24th of May. 😄

Edit: Thankyou for all the lovely comments! The myna has found its forever home!

Artist Angela Singer

During an optional lecture, I had a very interesting example of the artist Angela Singer, who transforms old and often thrown away stuffed animals into sculptures that are very close to the aesthetics of books.

Just finished Annihilation, what a great piece of nature writing

I have had the Area X collected hardback sat on my shelf for quite some time, and though I came to the trilogy for its ‘weird lit’ qualities it was the humane depth and descriptions about nature that impressed me the most. Really vivid and detailed and passionate.
