How seriously is Attendnace taken in Sophia?

Ive heard that attendance is actually monitored in FLA specifcally but I highly doubt that, is this only enforced by certain professors or throughout the school.

Semester Abroad 26/27, new people

Wassup, I will hopefully attend a semester abroad beginning in September. I think it would be very helpful to make friends with other people studying at Sophia, before landing in Tokyo. Will anyone else spend a semester in autumn 26/27? Of course I would also appreciate people who have started their studies already at Sophia. Looking forward to y‘all :)

Question about MA in Linguistics

Hello!

I've found out that Sophia University has an MA in Linguistics, which I'm quite interested in.

I'd like to know if the MA is indeed taught in both English and Japanese (it seems that way according to Sophia Graduate School of Language's website) and how high is the Japanese level used in classes in general, if any of you know.

For reference I've passed the N2 in the past (which I don't think it's a good measure tbh, as it doesn't evaluate your ability to speak and write content, for example). Are there any intensive Japanese courses offered by the Uni if needed?

Thanks a lot!

Odds of transferring into FLA

Hello, I’m trying to transfer out of a California community college, I applied to Sophia FLA as a transfer and I wanted to know my odds.

GPA: 3.7

SAT: 1200

EC: did an internship and study abroad in Japan for a semester, and was part of a business and finance club

Essay: I think I did fairly well, I explained my past experiences, motivations, and my reasons for wanting to study abroad, as well as courses I’m particularly interested in.
