r/Songsofconquest

Hey everyone, I’ve been looking at Songs of Conquest, and honestly there’s just something about its art style and presentation that really pulls me in. The colorful sprites and overall aesthetic remind me of older RPGs and CRPGs that felt like they had so much soul poured into them. Games where every little detail felt handcrafted and memorable.

In a time where so many modern releases feel overloaded with generic design and AI slop aesthetics, Songs of Conquest genuinely feels refreshing and full of personality. I was recently laid off from my job, so I’ve been spending most of my time applying to positions and trying to stay productive. In between applications, though, I’ve been wanting something comfy to play. I usually enjoy older style RPGs and strategy games, and this one really seems like the kind of game I could sink hours into.

For those who’ve played it, how’s the replayability and overall singleplayer experience?

If anyone happens to have a spare key they’d be willing to gift, I’d genuinely appreciate it a lot.

Potential new player asking a couple of question

I everyone, here another old Heroes of might and magic fan considering the purchase of Songs of Conquest.

I'd like to ask a couple of questions, thank you for your help.

  1. Unit cap looks very interesting, does it increase tactical depth and army composition? Or in the end fall short?

1a) With unit cap, do you get easily capped on your total strength?

  1. I like the freedom of building more of the same structure in a town, do you usually use this opportunity or it's niche?

  2. I read the writing is weak...but also that lore is cool. That feels a bit strange, what's the truth?

  3. Are there very big maps?

  4. What's your favorite SoC aspect?

  5. What aspect do you like the least ?

EDIT: Thank you every one. Bought the game, eager to start playing.

Hi, I’ve been reading the threads about the Switch 1/2 versions, and I understand that support for these versions is currently frozen and updates are not keeping up with the PC version.

For me, that’s a big barrier that prevents me from buying the game on those platforms.

I just wanted to encourage you not to give up on them and hopefully provide the support they deserve, even if it’s only for Switch 2.

I’m really interested in the game, especially if there’s proper support moving forward.

Greetings.

I'm trying to finish the campaign on overwhelming, after having done it in normal. And man, this is hell.

In normal, I just ran over the map with Kastus in ~40 turns, while Wiesh and Roderick defended against the (pitiful) arleon attacks.

In overwhelming, Gnaw and Giandra's armies and power reach insane level, as they increase each time they get defeated. Right now, they're both at level 32, and can pretty much erase Kastus' army before it can act (even though Kastus is OP as hell). Roderick and Wiesh stand absolutely no chance. I've taken Grey Tor and the south east walled town, and tried to turtle, hoping they'd stop their attack after a while and let me finish the map, but I've reached a point where I can't defeat them anymore, and can't leave my castle without being wiped out.

I know most SoC maps on Overwhelming have a sequence to follow to make it easier, but here, I've no idea about what I'm supposed to do. Should I just leave the eastern towns alone and go wipe out the (extermely OP too) Roots? Or does taking all three arleon fortresses stop the attacks?

I love this game. I'm a convinced Single player dude with not much time, that loves the story (campaing mainly).

I tend to have 1 build for each faction that I default to.

Eg. barya mercs and tinkers, sometimes dregs and sometimes pipers

Loth ranged and oathbound

Raana riders and arleon humans (here I do sometimes play fey)

I never tried a barya harima focus build and I need some help to get into it.

What are your guys strategies and unit comps?

When and how do you play a loth melee spam. Or raana crawler+guards

Hello,

just here asking for some reliable tips to beat this mission on the hardest difficulty.

I have already completed all the 4 campaigns on overwhelming and the 2 missions of the vanir campaign, but good lord the start of this mission is just brutal.

Do you have any tips to win against the 2 full stacks of musketeers and pikeneers?

How's replay value?

Heard that games like HoMM have an insane amount of replay value, but reading about SoC lots of people mention that the random map generator is not very good.

How will this game than have a lot of replay value? What you guys play for replay value if not random maps?

Rise eternal second mission, you have one wielder with a big army that cant enter town and one wielder with a small army that cant leave town... i dont understand how i am supposed to reinforce the big army with more troops or leave town with the small army. this mission seems impossible/bugged, did i miss something?

Possibility of New Spells

Is there any possibility of new spells being added to the game at some point in the future? I understand that it would be extremely difficult to do while maintaining the balance, but it would be neat if there were spells that required more than two kinds of essence.

White fog of war

Hello everyone! Im looking for the mod that changes the look of fog of war. I don’t like how dark this map is, especially with such beautiful pixel art. I’d like the fog of war to be made up of white mist and little clouds. Maybe I’ve seen it in some other game, but blimey, it would look much better. Does anyone know of a mod like that?
