I can assume from the number of local installers who’ve not bothered to contact me that it’s an Installers not a Buyers market. Two have even attended and still not quoted: strange business model. I’m old enough to remember the minefield that was the double-glazing market in the 1970s.

As a corollary I expect solar quotes to be high (but not this high) as Installers go to maximise profit from the unwary (me). Surprisingly, I’ve now had two quotes from Installers that are almost identical. The only known extra is the house roof is 3 stories high. Scaffolding goes an extra level. No EV charger. No Eddi. No Islanding.

 In essence its

16 x Aiko 480W panels generating 6kw over 4 slopes; a Sigenstor EC10.0SP, and two Sigenstor BAT 10.0s. 40 x 420081-BE. All paperwork, bird proofing, etc.

 Supplier A £ 15,550 Payback 14 years 25 year surplus £11095

 Supplier B £ 14,995 Payback 12 years. 25 year surplus £20290

 Views on both quotes please.

I’m going to engage with the provider literally 1 mile down the road who’s not a fan of the Sigenergy premium.
