park to get married?

any nice parks in smyrna where myself/fiance and our 10-11 guests could go so that we could be married? no chairs or music. would likely have a floral arch but will be quick with putting up and taking down. we ideally don’t want to pay for just a short little ceremony but know the sometimes you have to have permits

Looking for a 4th of July event

Preferably one that's not happening in the battery, last year kind of sucked and I don't want to do the battery again I've been doing the battery every 4th for The Last 5 Years. Ideally I want to just have a I need to add sit on a grassy Hill watching fireworks. Alone or with somebody, I don't mind I just kind of hoping it's not too far from the apartment but if I got to travel I don't mind.

Clubhouse Rentals

Does anyone know of any good places to rent for a small baby shower or club houses that rent to non residents? I’m having a baby shower 35 people for 3-4 hours max. Would love to have it in the Smyrna area. Thanks!

Verizon outage?

Anyone else experiencing Verizon cellular outage in the Smyrna area? I work near the Fair Oaks neighborhood and haven’t had cell service since yesterday afternoon. Verizon’s website does show network outage, I was curious to see how widespread it is.

Title: Two reasons to come to Schoolhouse Brewing in Marietta this Sunday (June 14)

Sunday, June 14th, we've got two very different events happening at Schoolhouse Brewing, and somehow they make perfect sense back to back.

First: Kitten Yoga (11am-12pm)

Homeless Pets Foundation is hosting Kitten Yoga at our place. Real kittens. On your mat. Judging your form. $40/person, capped at 40 spots, and yes, it will sell out because people love kittens more than they love their weekend sleep.

All skill levels welcome. The kittens don't care if you can't touch your toes. They're going to climb on you anyway.

VIP tickets are $50 and include a private extra hour of kitten time plus a complimentary craft beer, which is honestly the best $10 upgrade you'll make all month.

Every ticket supports rescue animals. The kittens are adoptable. You've been warned.

Tickets: https://homelesspets.com/kitten-yoga-june-14th-2026/

Then: Crack, Bam, Dot Mahjong Open (2pm-6pm)

Once the kittens are packed up, the tiles come out. We run American Style Mahjong every 2nd and 4th Sunday from 2 to 6pm. Free to play. No sign-up. No entry fee. Just show up and grab a beer.

Never played? Neither has half the table. Played for 30 years? Great, teach someone. Bring your own set if you have one. We'll have tables set up either way.

Cold beer, good people, surprisingly competitive tile game.

Event page: https://www.schoolhousebeer.com/events/crack-bam-dot-mahjong-open-f2c8eecf

So this Sunday in Marietta: yoga with kittens at 11, mahjong with beer at 2. You could also just sit on your couch. Up to you.

Can young Atlantans still afford to buy a home?

So the Smyrna success story here is a couple in their early 30s bought an 1,100 sq ft house for $465k using a crypto windfall, put 3% down, pay ADDITIONAL private mortgage insurance every month, and locked in a mortgage just under 6%.

Not trying to be cynical, but if that's the optimistic example, I think I'll keep renting.

Red Light Camera Question

I was crossing Cumberland Blvd on Spring Rd going east in the right most lane before the right turn lane. As I crept forward to line up with the stop line I saw 2 flashes from a red light camera. The light on Cumberland may have been turning (I didn't look/too many other variables). Could it have gotten me? Is it fightable?

Gutter replacement recommendations

Hello! We’re looking to replace our old gutter, but have no idea where to start the research. We scheduled an appointment with Leaf Guard for a quote, but I also would like to see if anyone has recommendations and an estimate quote will be greatly appreciated.

Looking for a Sunday Walking Partner/Group on Silver Comet Trail (Smyrna, GA)

Hello all! I (27f) am hoping to find a walking group or someone willing to form one I can walk with on the Silver Comet Trail most Sundays.

Since moving out here to Atlanta, I've been regularly walking it most Sundays, but have only been willing to go so far (really only 1.5 miles before turning back), usually when I haven’t seen a person in a while.

I’ve really been wanting to increase my mileage in a sort of “long walk challenge" and for health and spiritual reasons, but honestly am afraid to do so alone on the trail, especially with all that’s been on the news lately. But I really would like to reach a point where walking for 2+ hours once a week is basically nothing.

So, I’ve been hoping to connect with someone or a group of someones who would be willing to meet most Sunday mornings to walk the trail at a leisurely ~3.0 mph pace for longer and longer stretches, eventually even one day completing the full trail!

Please let me know if anyone would be interested!
