Newbie seeking advice: High CA

Hi!

I'm brand new to using a CPAP machine, this is my first week. I'm excited to finally fix my sleep. I was prescribed a Resmed Airsense 11 Autoset with a pressure of 5-20 (which I found out quickly was a bad/generic prescription). I have since changed it to 8-13.

I've uploaded a picture of last nights data. I seem to have no OAs at all, but a large amount of CAs at 8.22. What could be causing this? Is there anything glaringly wrong about my settings? I turned both ramp and EPR off since I found them to be uncomfortable.

I appreciate any advice I can get!

CPAP newbie looking for feedback

I'm three days into my CPAP journey and seeking some guidance understanding my data and where to focus on improvements. My AHI looks very low, which seems great, but I'm guessing my leak rate might be skewing the stats. I have a full beard, use an AirTouch N30i, and mouth tape to try to prevent mouth breathing. I don't notice leaking while awake and it feels fairly comfortable. Any setting adjustments or other suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Interpretation of CPAP SleepHQ Report

Would anyone be willing to go over these results from SleepHQ for me? I've been on a CPAP since November. At first, my apnea symptoms significantly improved but over the past month or so the old symptoms of daytime fatigue are returning and I don't know why. I use the machine every night and I consistently get at least 7 hours of sleep per day. I did get blood work done and I discovered I do have low Vitamin D so that could potentially be a cause of the fatigue. I've also recently gone on a new medication that's known for causing fatigue as a side effect. But I want to rule out if anything looks irregular on my CPAP therapy.

Depression, Anxiety, Frustration, Discouragement…We’re Here to Help! No Question or Discussion is Too Small. We’ve Got You :)

I’m Creative_Fee, a new Mod on this Sub. Everywhere I read, I see cries for help from people who need support. Awareness of mental health during this transition period is recognized. And as people adjust to CPAP therapy, they will realize they are getting good sleep…they feel better & cope better. Some adjust more quickly than others, but as needs are met, (sometimes with pressure tweaks & setting changes, some with a different type of machine) most start to feel better! There is light at the end of the tunnel!

I’d like to resurrect a Post written by RippingLegos a year ago discussing why this is a normal reaction to being diagnosed with Sleep Apnea. Sometimes people adjust quickly to a mask on their face & air blowing through tubing to help keep their airways open. But in many cases people do not adjust quickly. They are given or sent a machine set at prescribed pressures, a mask they are told is best for them & do not receive follow-up care. There are issues in choosing appropriate, comfortable masks & the Beginner pressures are no longer meeting their needs. It’s no wonder that Anxiety, Frustration, Discouragement & Depression occur to so many….no direction or support is provided until you find a sub on Reddit to help, give advice & tips and most of all support you through this journey. Some remain unable to use their mask comfortably, feel exhausted due to multiple issues or give up because of lack of support.

The reassuring Post written by RippingLegos is a picture of what many of us have gone through. Perhaps you have a story to share or perhaps you regularly contribute advice to those in need…whatever you can share is much appreciated :) Thank you!

Sleepapneasupport & CPAPSupport are sister subs with some shared Moderators providing support & advice on both subs. We couldn’t do it all without help from our PapFam members…you all rock! Thank you! RippingLegos is our highly regarded, knowledgeable & respected Team Leader on both sites. We have an amazing Team of Moderators chosen by RL who are here to help you! No issue is too small. A SD card in your machine & and free apps like SleepHQ & Oscar help us to help you. This is important information for new members to our PapFam…most people who have been on this sub for a while share their sleep data already.

Most people begin to feel better when achieving good, solid sleep! Sleep is crucial to good health both physically & mentally. For some, it’s a relief to finally be diagnosed.

The awareness post on protecting our Mental Health as well as our Physical Health, written by RippingLegos, is as follows:

Sharing helps others adjust to this new part of their lives & not feel alone. And please always remember “We’ve got you :)”

First week mask thoughts

So for someone starting out who has been hyper focused on succeeding I thought I would share my thoughts on masks .

I found out I was a mouth breather. I’ve been working hard on that and I found a chinstrap is a good fit and gives me a lot more freedom in mask choices.

I started with an F20 and didn’t like the way it covered my nose. Since I wasn’t proficient at nasal breathing it was not my favorite.

I decided to switch to a full face mask. I bought an off brand and didn’t care for having my nose and mouth covered also had issues with short beard getting a great seal.

Now to an off brand nasal pillow. Really liked it . Easy to seal and comfortable. When I slept on my side I didn’t like the venting or fighting the hose.

Now the breakthrough P30i. Super way to seal. Soft and comfortable. Not having a hose hanging off the nose made life so much better for me . The vent is more out the top and since the hose isn’t connected the pillows don’t move . For me this is the best for me . You do hear a little breath in the side tubes but for me , I use white noise or a fan so it’s actually relaxing to me.

That’s my story and I hope it helps someone !!

I really want to use nasal pillows but it's impossible for me to fall asleep with it

Hey guys!

So, I usually use a hybrid mask but I feel like nasal pillows would just be so much more comfortable...if I could actually fall asleep with it. I recently tried using a chin strap to keep from breathing through my mouth, but this doesn't seem to help. Is there a way to train myself to use it or am I just gonna have to stick with the hybrid? Any help would be much appreciated!

New CPAP user, looking for help reviewing data

Hi - I read on the r/CPAPSupport forum that I might be able to get help finetuning settings by sharing my data here? Would greatly appreciate any comments or suggestions. Using Airsense 10 and P10 nasal pillows. I've only been using the CPAP for about 2 weeks and switched to the large pillows from the medium size as they were irritating my nostrils. I feel like the sweet spot might be in the middle of the two sizes but the large ones feel more comfortable.

I've added screenshots of the daily report - the first 3 images are from April 10 (medium pillows) and the last 3 are from April 19 (large pillows).

I also created a share link from SleepHQ as suggested - https://sleephq.com/public/teams/share_links/c2d6f653-c848-4cf3-ac07-dc8a2642bff0

Any suggestions (machine settings or pillow / mask selection) are most welcome!

I hope I have shared the right info and greatly appreciate any comments from more experienced users.

I did find that getting some saline nasal gel helped me with some very annoying nasal irritation that was accumulating over the first week or so - and also have learned that I need to check my water reservoir more regularly.

Thanks!

At a loss to know what to try next with my ASV

Have posted a few times on various subreddits, am a complex case and struggling with so much tiredness, brain fog and general sleepiness I fear that I am untreatable.

I have raised my min epap from 6 to 8.4, hasn't achieved any benefit. I can provide other days OSCAR reports if needed or required.

Added link to my last post with more detailed information.
