Sioux Falls Stampede wins Western Conference Championship!

Sorry for the shaky camera, but I was extremely happy! I was at the game, and it was so much fun!

Road rage is getting out of control

Today while driving down Kiwanis near Madison by the fire station, I made the mistake of reaching down to grab something I dropped while sitting in the turning lane. The SUV behind me started laying on the horn repeatedly, and yes, I reacted badly and flipped them off — I shouldn’t have done that.

But what happened after was completely unacceptable. A grown woman followed me, screamed profanity at me, and tried to get me to get out of my car to fight. That behavior is embarrassing and dangerous. Road rage is out of control, and nobody should feel threatened over a traffic incident.

I’m not getting out of my car to fight anyone. I’ll call the police before I ever stoop to that level. People seriously need to learn how to control themselves and stop acting aggressively toward strangers.

Food Poisoning- Mother’s Day brunch

So my family and I went out to eat on Sunday, May 10, for Mother’s Day. We went to the tavern grill in Sioux Falls. It was a lackluster experience. We had a reservation for 1:30 pm. Didn’t end up getting in until 1:45ish (which really isn’t too bad for how busy they were), but by the time we got seated and in line, the buffet looked like a war zone! They were it of everything. Some things were completely out (NY Strip and waffles) and others they kept trying to make up and refill, but everything would be depleted almost immediately because so many people were waiting for the refills. It was so expensive and to not offer a discount when food wasn’t available was a disappointment.

The biggest issue though surprised us all in the middle of the night! There were nine people (seven adults and two children) in our party (two separate families who live in separate houses). Seven people (six adults and one child) ended up sick…more than likely with food poisoning.

I’m curious if anyone else ate there in Sunday and also ended up sick?

Sioux Empire TNR Negligence

I stayed quiet for a long time because I genuinely believed in helping cats and supporting the mission of SiouxEmpireTNR. As a former board member and extremely active volunteer, I saw what really happens behind the scenes.

This is no longer rescue work. It is bordering on hoarding, fueled by ego, control, and chaos.

Mat acts like he knows more than veterinarians, dismisses concerns, and lashes out at anyone who questions him — volunteers, adopters, board members, fosters, everyone. The constant freak outs, intimidation, and manipulation have driven good people away while animals continue to suffer.

Meanwhile:

• Kittens and cats are dying

• There are no proper intake procedures

• Anyone can be handed a cat to foster or adopt with little to no screening

• Fosters are expected to provide food, litter, and supplies themselves unless they repeatedly beg for help

• TNR has been cut back because there is more money in flipping young kittens pulled from Facebook

• Alter assist pricing has been marked up massively while constantly claiming there is “no money”

• Numerous pleas for help sit unanswered, yet thousands can be spent on events designed more for attention and image than actual rescue work

The biggest hypocrisy is hearing claims about “bringing rescues together” while Mat bad-mouths nearly every other rescue any chance he gets.

No amount of donations, volunteers cleaning, or social media praise can fix a rescue that lacks structure, accountability, procedures, and compassion. Rescue without organization and proper care stops being rescue.

The cats deserve better. The volunteers deserve better. The community deserves better.

Called Sioux Falls non-emergency number for a found Wallet on the side of the road at 5:34pm. They asked me where I would like to meet an officer. I said a place in Sioux falls. They said it could be up to 2 hours (okay I get it they're busy it's something small) I waited in the agreed upon spot.. 2 hours comes around. I figure, "theres cops all over downtown let's go to them." Head towards downtown. See a cop on the way, pull next to them at a red light. They roll the window down. I ask them if they can take it. Nope. They tell me to call back. I call back. Dispatcher:"We can come pick it up from your addres at a later time", me:" I live in tea" dispatcher: "oh I will make a note of that. Is there anywhere you could put it and tell us so we can pick it up later" um? No? What are we playing hide and seek? Finally just tell them I'm just going to set it outside of the police station front desk. That road is currently closed to through traffic and it is 8pm so I can't park on the street. Had to park 3 blocks away in a free parking, parking lot. And walk there all to be a good citizen. See about 4 cops on my way to the building and back to my car. Good job City of Sioux Falls. Edit: A drop box for found property would be a good idea in Sioux falls, I've seen multiple calls on the SFPD call log for found property.

What is the deal with the amount of engine revving downtown?

I've lived in Lincoln and Des Moines downtowns. This downtown is on another level. What do you think is the cause?

Did South Dakotan parents back in the day have too many children and thus could not give enough attention and care to every child?

Or maybe Smithfield's plant dumps far too much estrogenic waste in the water system - causing mass hypogonadism?

Will this city ever get noise radars? It'd be a very nice way to generate revenue to fix the malfunctioning traffic light sensors on Minnesota avenue!

Corner of 26th & Marion. A guy in a ski mask (so I’ve been told) came and spray painted a couple of dusty johnson for governor signs. Must have been in a rush as he made one of his P’s into an R.

Best place for an oil change east side town?

Usually go through Valvoline, but it seems like they have been overcharging every time lately, and there is always an hour wait even when there's no one in front of you but the people in the bay. Looking for somewhere cheaper where they still check fluids and the normal stuff as I'm not super car literate. Thanks!

I'm getting pissed off about buffalo wings in town

$13 on the menu, I asked if that was a pound or a dozen and they said "yes". Got seven decent wings but what is happening here

Do you have a gym you love on the east side?

I’m moving from the west side of town to the east side. I’d love to get your gym recommendations and what you love about yours.

I was a member of Planet Fitness once upon a time and it was fine. I did Fit Body Bootcamp for about 2 years and it changed my life but they don’t have anything close and I know I won’t go if it’s not convenient. Currently I’m at Crunch and it’s pretty good but will be too far out of the way.

I’m open to all variations from group fitness to standard or big box gyms.

I also love a good hike or bike ride so any gems closer to that side of town or group activity links are welcome.

Thanks!

Parents please don’t do this to the rest of us

If you want to take your toddler and new born out for dinner….. maybe choose a child appropriate venue, rather than ruin other people’s evening with your children’s wailing

Just like you we have been working hard all week and want to enjoy a peaceful meal, not feel like I’m at pizza ranch….

Shout out to Les Schwab

Stopped at the Les Schwab on Anchor/South Minnesota to get a tire fixed and put back on my vehicle. They got it done in less than 30 minutes and there was no charge for any of it. They also had Casey’s pizza, popcorn and coffee while waiting.

Nice job Les Schwab, I’ll definitely be back

Hey Sioux Falls I need your help

I’m looking for help with finding activities to do around the city mainly on weekends. I just moved to Sioux Falls for the summer for sales with a couple of my buddies and I am looking for stuff to do. Night life and good restaurants would be amazing I’m 22 from Ohio so I’m used to random stuff.

Picture is a super smash game from last night

Who puts this on their license plate: "Nazi Day"?

Hidden, yet, not-so-hidden message?!

I mean, sure, it's a Nissan so I think they're trying to be cute but... did they stop for a second to think about how that might be interpreted? Maybe they didn't care/support such messaging?
