Riding in TMCR

Are the riding conditions getting worse, or is it just me?

The bike lanes have basically turned into gravel trails with random rock‑garden sections.

Every now and then, you’ll even find heavy‑vehicle spare parts or metal shavings scattered across the lane — perfect for punctures.

And if you try riding beside the lane, the heavy vehicles are so aggressive it makes the whole idea of a ‘bike lane’ feel pointless.

Just my opinions as a solo rider.

The headlight situation is getting worse

We need to start educating people strobe light doesn’t provide you safety. It attracts attention and blinds incoming traffic at worst it stuns the rider.

most place should have parts without street light to make them realize they are flash banging themselves like they are doing on others

Fixed or gravel?

I am considering whether to buy a fixed gear or gravel bike. Like all teenage guys, we all want something that looks good. The fixed gear fufills that, but the gravel provides more functionality like 2 bottle cage mounts. I dont cycle everyday, but when i do i usually go for 10-20kms or 50+ when with friends. Can anyone give me advice?

Aggressive pedestrian WWYD

Waa cycling down a pavement that was fairly wide, auntie walking in the middle. I rang bell from about 50m away, auntie ignored me. Eventually she turned around saw me, then walked towards my bike ( I was on the right and kept inching towards the side of the pavement to avoid her). She then tried to flick her tote bag at me/ my bike.

I told her off and then ride off.

What would you have done?

Best road bike option for entry level?

Hello all! Would like to tap on the collective wisdom of everyone here. Currently in a dilemma on what kind of road bike to get.

My options are either a brand new bike (Polygon Strattos S4D w/ Tiagra groupset) or a second hand bike of the same price (generally 105 tier bikes like Canyon Endurace CF/7, or Giant Contend AR).

Just started getting into cycling with the goal of training for HIM/IM. Would like to ask for everyone’s opinions and what considerations I should have when choosing :)

Repair cost for a abandoned road bike

I have a road bike that was abandoned and has gathered rust. It still works fine, but gear shifting is poor and the bike just feels off. Some bolts and nuts have also rusted.

How much should I pay to get it fully operational? The Decathlon service workshop is my preferred option at the moment.
