What social or volunteer groups do you belong to?

I recently retired and don't see much on Meetup that appeals, since my interests are things like discussion groups, psychology, ideas, etc. Foot/leg injuries prevent me (for now) from walking far or doing much physical stuff. What groups are my fellow Shoreliners into socially?

Also haven't found a good volunteer fit yet, for various reasons. If you volunteer, what do you do? I'm looking for something that lets me talk to people, perhaps from a front-desk or educational/helpful aspect. (Tool Library may be a good idea, though looking for a place where the main faces/staff stays the same. Hard to explain here.)

Items taken at Richmond Beach Park

If anyone accidentally took a bag with 3 kids sweatshirts, a water bottle, and rain boots, please DM me.

The unicorn sweatshirt and red sweater are my daughter’s favorite.

And if someone purposefully stole these items, shame on you.

Run for PCO!

Neighborhood volunteers get out the vote and influence party politics. Filing week to run for Precinct Committee Officer (PCO) is March 4th

https://local.interurbancanopy.news/p/run-for-pco

What is a Precinct Committee Officer (PCO)? PCOs are the frontline defenders of free and fair elections at the neighborhood level. A PCO is a grassroots party organizer who talks to neighbors about elections and turns out the vote.

What do PCOs do? PCOs shape the future of political parties. They have full voting power on party business and influence party platforms and endorsements. And sometimes, PCOs even vote to fill vacancies in the state legislature.

How to run for PCO: Candidates file the week of May 4, 2026, and must be either a Republican or Democrat registered to vote in their precinct. PCO candidates must be at least 18 by the August 4 primary — even 17-year-olds can run!

How to file for PCO: Candidates can learn more on the King County PCO page or the Snohomish County Run for Office site. Look up your precinct using the online King County Precinct Map or the Snohomish County Precinct Map

PCO candidates don’t appear in the Voters’ Pamphlet; only contested PCO races appear on the ballot, and candidates can drop out before the end of filing week.

If unopposed, a PCO candidate is automatically elected; otherwise, the PCO candidate with the most votes in the August primary wins. PCOs can also be appointed by the local party.

There is no filing fee to run for PCO, and the application can be completed online in a few minutes.

Republicans can learn more on the King County GOP and Snohomish County GOP websites.

Democrats can find details on the 32nd LD Democrats, 1st LD Democrats, and the WA Dems websites.

You should run for PCO! Precinct Committee Officers (or PCOs) are neighborhood volunteers who turn out the vote. PCOs talk to their neighbors about elections and defend democracy. PCOs are elected party officials. They have full voting power in the party and influence platforms and endorsements. And sometimes, PCOs vote to fill vacancies in the legislature. It's easy. Search: \"Run for PCO\" to learn more. Filing week is May 4th and it’s free to run. And don’t worry: If you can use a mute button and stay awake in an online meeting, you are already more qualified than some current local party officials!

Which Spine specialist do you recommend? Why do you recommend them? Or who would you NOT recommend and why?

I’ve got some herniated discs and am looking to seek a referral for a spine specialist in case we (my PCP and I) decide to do anything more invasive than an oral steroid. He mentioned a possible epidural shot next week but I’m going to request a referral and he always asks where I’d like to go….so who is the best of the best spine doctor in the Seattle area? Willing to commute to Everette, east side or slightly south of Seattle. He has lists but asks for my preference…BUT I’ve never seen a spine doctor so I have no clue where the best docs are. Please 🙏🏻 send my recs or send me places to avoid!

Third annual North City Spring Cleanup - May 9th, and we want your input

We're planning our third annual neighborhood-wide litter cleanup and before we finalize routes, we figured we'd ask: which streets or areas do you think need the most attention?

We've already got a couple of routes in mind, but there's always more ground to cover than we can get to. Drop your suggestions below and we'll use the feedback to shape this year's sign-up.

Sign-ups and full details coming early next week.

Police at Meridian and 185th

I was driving down Meridian about 11:45pm tonight Wed 4/22 and there were about 6 police cars on both sides of Meridian at 185th (by the bus stop). Anyone know what was going on? It was down to 3 cars about 20 minutes later when I went by again. No other emergency service vehicles just alot of police cars.
