I really recommend MotorSlice if you want your SOTC itch scratched

Recent indie game inspired by Shadow of the Colossus, Mirror's Edge and Prince of Persia. Game revolves around climbing, parkour and facing bosses hundreds of times bigger than you. It's got a bit of jank as it's still being polished (and some level of gooning) but it's still an excelent game worth playing if you want to experience SOTC's core gameplay aspects.

My first tattoo ever

I'm so proud, I always knew I'd have a tattoo someday and I just couldn't stop thinking this was the one.
I also know I'm not the first one to do it, but I don't care, I'm so happy ❤️❤️❤️❤️

My favorite game ever, at last, forever with me on my skin 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Which one do you like most?

I want to frame one on my wall, but I can't choose. Which one of these do you like the most?

Hey everyone, this is an update on my previous post (you can check it here: LAST POST). Thanks again for all the support — it really helped me stay motivated and keep pushing this project forward.

After 30+ hours of work across 50 days, the Shrine of Worship is finally complete.

(Yes, I know the hours per day might seem low. I didn’t have much time to build, so most of the progress happened between work and college.)

Since the last update, I focused on refining the upper sections, improving the overall texturing, and adjusting the environment to better match the atmosphere of the original game. The goal was not just accuracy, but also capturing the scale and feeling of the Shrine.

Your comments and engagement here and on other platforms played a big role in keeping me consistent and finishing the project, so thank you for that.

I’ve made the map available for download on my Patreon for anyone who wants to support the project (Here's the Patreon's link). There’s also a larger connected world there with my other builds, where the Shrine is now fully integrated.

For those who prefer, I’ve also uploaded the Shrine as a standalone map.

Thanks again for all the support 🙏

Apparently I lived under a rock during the time that the SotC REMAKE dropped for ps4 bc I'm JUST hearing about it. It looks amazing. Is it a good remake that I should spend real money on?

I have now received my sealed Japanese version of the Shadow of the Colossus promotional DVD. Combining Ico with the Japanese word for 2 (ni) gave us, NICO. The footage on the NICO bonus DVD is generally considered to be in the pre production or early alpha stage. This is where we can also see where Embark Studios drew inspiration for Arc Raiders. Pursuing a behemoth (alpha Quadratus) with friends and taking it down is seen on this footage. If you haven’t seen this yet, I recommend treating yourself and looking it up on YouTube. What I also found interesting was how early on they hired Kow Otani to do the soundtrack. He completed quite a bit of the music included in the video. Have you seen the footage? What did you find the most interesting?

Spider has always been my favorite of the cut Colossi, but I wish it went by a less... on the nose name.

I'm not quite sure how the original 16 got their common names, but I just wanted to do this little experiment, even if the name chosen here most definitely won't catch on.

Here are a few names I cam up with! I've tried to find names that sound similar and would fit in with the original 16. Comment which one you think fits best, or suggest your own! I just want to feel more connected to this big guy, don't you? My personal favorite names are highlighted in bold and italics.

Key:

L means the name is Latin in origin translating into words such as cut, stab, hit, thrust, wound, scratch, etc.

Otherwise, the name's origin will be stated.

---------------------------------------------------------

Erigo - A Latin word meaning to raise, erect, build, rouse, excite, etc.

Arrigo - A name of Italian origin meaning "Ruler of the estate".

Subrigo - A Latin word meaning to raise, lift up, straighten, get up, rise, arise, etc.

Altus - A Latin word meaning high, lofty, tall, profound, etc.

Vulnus - L

Volnus - L

Ictus - L

Cubitus - A Latin word meaning elbow, bend, rest, forearm, curve, etc.

Lapsus - A Latin word meaning slip, fall, lapse, downfall, etc.

Aranea - A Latin word meaning spider.

Araneus - A Latin word meaning of the spider.

Original order of the colossi?

In a demo, colossus 9 is shown at the position of colossus 4. I've never seen gameplay from this demo or iso. In the same video, there is this table from the other image. It's an old video, currently it may be that everything has already been explained, but I'm out of the loop.

This weekend me and my fiancée had a holiday off just to chill, stay home and rest.

I bought my PS4 back in 2019 from a friend. His excuse was that he only used it to watch Netflix and didn’t really have time for it anymore, and he gave me a pretty good deal too.
If I remember correctly, it came with Shadow of the Colossus when he bought it, I think it was some kind of bundle.

Ever since then we’ve always played whenever we can. Our last game together was Until Dawn (we’re always going to local fairs looking for used games, it kinda became a hobby for us). Anyway, I said I wanted to finally try it. I already knew the story, knew the reputation and quality behind it, but had never actually played it myself.

And man… what a surprise.
I don’t wanna sound like that guy or anything, but man, japanese devs really know how to make games.

Just dropping into a story knowing absolutely nothing, only small fragments. We didn’t even know if she was his sister, girlfriend, or someone from his family, all we knew was that the protagonist would do absolutely anything to save her. And the game simply throws you into the world completely free. No compass, no yellow markers, no HUD, nothing.

I was genuinely blown away by the quality of the game and the massive landscapes. One of my favorite games ever is Death Stranding and man… it gave me that same weirdly peaceful feeling.

But talking about this game means talking about the colossi, and honestly, the feeling was bittersweet. I never really felt satisfied after killing each one of them. Even though it was clearly something that had to be done, every fight left me feeling kinda empty afterward… Our favorite colossi were the bird, that giant sand snake, that electric water serpent, and the other bird too (sorry, I have no idea what any of their names are lol).

And honestly, some things I’d rather leave to my imagination. Who were those people? Why was the girl cursed? Why was that land forbidden? Who did that sword belong to? Stuff like that. Things that are more interesting because they aren’t fully explained.

I genuinely can’t believe it took me this long to finally play this masterpiece.

And I’m also still kinda in disbelief that most people experienced this back on the PS2. All of THIS was possible on the PS2?! What kind of witchcraft were they using back then??

Anyway, it was fun. Thank you Fumito Ueda for this.
