The end!

Paying it forward to all you test takers.
Passed SIE, Life & Health, 7, and 66 first try.

Study habits are essential. Figure out what works best for you and go hard fully commit. I’m a father of two and sometimes you have to prioritize your time for the greater benefit of your children. This meant being half present in times that I didn’t want to be, but keep your eyes on the prize.

The YouTube videos from series 7 guru and Ken were my lifeline. I could always turn on an air pod when in the waiting room and always digested content during windshield time.

I personally didn’t absorb information by reading the books. I tried, but I made it through a few pages and felt my time would be better spent drilling questions.

I use the Kaplan KeyBank every morning before work and every evening after putting kids to bed. From there is important to realize what your weak areas are to a targeted drill. Find the Wright YouTube content and apply that to the next simulated exam.

Personally, I never used the dump sheet or flashcards. I realize that I’m an auditory learner so digesting the content and audio and video format worked best for me.

Now for the 66. I took Ken’s brutal exam twice scored 78 and 79. Once I hit 81% in the Kaplan KeyBank I scheduled. I felt more prepared for the 66 than any others, but the test really forces you to pick the lesser of two evil sometimes. Slow down read the full question and think critically. Some of these answers aren’t gonna jump out as the right answer on the first pass. But I assure you if you’ve paid attention to Dean or Ken or both preferably they’ve covered the content you need.

I’m glad it’s over, I’m ready to get to work.
Good luck to all of you testtakers what works for me might not work for you, but wanted to share my experience.

Best wishes!

Edit: Q Bank not Key Bank. Auto correct🙄

4th time failing the Series 66

Im embarrassed to even write this because who fails a test 4 times? My first 3 attempts were 9 years ago after I passed the Series 7. Right away my 41 year old brain is far from remembering anything from 10 years ago and haven’t taken a test since. I used Training Consultants (both times, it’s what finally got me to pass the 7) but I have to say I regret using them again. Their practice exams were far from the actual exam. After getting a 66, 73, 73, 66 and 77 on each final exam , i knew i needed more help. I came on here and took the advice of strangers and bought the test geek brian lee’s study materials which i feel helped tremendously. Also watched every youtube video of his and did a couple of ride along Kaplan q bank exams with the Guru Dean Tinney. (Hes a little dry for me but did pick up some things here and there from him)

Today i took the exam and got a 71. Devastating. There was not 1 roman numeral answer where you have to pick multiple answers . Not ONE. And i feel like the majority of what I studied was filled with them. I was surprised actually at how many point shoot and click questions there were and overall the test felt way easier than any of the practice exams i took. Zero and i mean zero math questions. I didn’t use my calculator once and used my scrap paper one time. My weak areas were laws and regs (32/45) and client recommendations (18/30).

I feel exhausted and don’t know where else to turn to for additional help for re-taking the exam a 5th time. Does anyone have any advice or mind telling me of their experience so i can not feel like such a loser. I have been studying 2-4 hour days mostly 7 days a week for the past 6 weeks. I just want this exam out of my life.

Finally my exam day is quickly approaching, I have done my best these past 30 days coming off a 63 victory to prepare for the 65. I have used Kaplan and watched a few of Dean's videos and I am have been consistently scoring 73-78 my lowest score was a 70 and highest was an 80. Any last minute recommendations?

I’ve been studying for the series 65 two months as of today.

Got through the Kaplan book in about a month and for the last month, I’ve been doing Kaplan exams. About a week and a half ago I switched to achievable and have been flipping back-and-forth from them because I felt like I was getting used to the Kaplan questions. Below are the most recent scores I have gotten on Kaplan over the last two weeks.

Kaplan Scores:
(Most recent) 113/140
97/140
89/140
100/140
100/140
108/140

Achievable scores:

(Most recent) 80/130
93/130 (only passing score)
68/130
75/130

I scheduled a test on May 14, which is about eight days from now and I want nothing but the cold hard honest truth. Am I ready for this? I think I’m just gonna drill chapter tests the rest of this week, this test is a different animal. I don’t remember being this nervous or this low confidence with the SIE and the 63.

Any advice would be really appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi everyone, I am testing for the first time tomorrow, I had made a post about a week ago just wanted to share an update. I am doing really well on Ken's brutal exams i think i got like 100 out of 115 correct yesterday. Meanwhile the STC and Pass perfect stimulated exams I am getting like mid 70's but I feel as im messing up there really in depth extra stuff that wont even see on the exam. Thoughts on this?

Also is there a lot of internal rate of return, discount model, mode median.. CAPM sharpe ratio? I feel as if this is less important than stuff like the USA and what is ethical and not.
