Monterey Bay Aquarium's sea otter livestream is the best thing on the internet right now, thanks to 2 new otters!
The aquarium added two new, younger otters to the raft about a month or so ago and watching them integrate has been magical. I've been tuning in almost every day, but every time I do, I notice that there's not many viewers, so maybe people just don't know about it?
They previously had 3 otters on exhibit - Opal, Selka, and Ivy. Selka and Ivy are much older (12-13) than Opal (2), who is very playful and energetic. She was playing with Ivy pretty much all the time as Selka is the most chill of the three (she prefers to nap and enjoy ice). Then, they added Willow and Suri, both about 4 years old, and wow! Watching them acclimate has been so exciting! Now Opal is playing ALL THE TIME with the two new otters, giving Ivy and Selka a bit of a break. One of the new ones (I think Willow?) has apparently decided Opal is her baby now and the two are constantly playing and towing each other through the water. Meanwhile, Selka has a new "ice buddy" in Suri, who seems to enjoy napping right on the ice just like she does! They have all become bestest friends and I just love it!
Strongly recommend you guys check this out! It's so cute and wholesome :)
