I didn't realize the intercessors sgt didn't come with any power weapons so I reshaped a deathguard weapon to give this guy a huge ass axe!

Painted up some scythes of the emperor lads Really hate painting yellow, red and black But I use them to try improve my painting One day maybe I might find a good yellow formula without airbrush

Finally finished my eliminates that I've had one my shelf for a while

The SOTHAN 1st was an odd formation as it was more than a regular pdf force yet not really a guard regiment.

Under direct command of the Scythes of the Emperor as per Astartes world traditions. They were however organised like an imperial guard formation, drilled constantly and seeing all kinds of action around the worlds of the Sotharan League.

It wasn't uncommon for the cream of the hoplitai to be sent to the fortress monastery of the Scythes for induction into the aspirants corps .

What differs though is that once the proper screening by the apothecarion and reclusiam were accomplished, the aspirants were given the choice either to undergo the trials before becoming a scout or leave the fortress and reintegrate the SOTHAN 1st with their honour intact.

The inductees who chose to go back were then even more eager to prove themselves as to make their Astartes overlords proud to have them offered such a chance.

During the fall of Sotha the SOTHAN 1st

Initially performed even better than anticipated. They were pushing back hordes of Tyranid and recapturing strategic objectives that even led their astartes overlords to believe that a victory was possible on Sotha.

However it was in the darkest hours that the tragedy was revealed as every single member of the officer corps and the ruling caste of Sotha were infected genestealers agents.

The chaos that ensued left the SOTHAN 1st on the verge of extinction.

as the planet was consumed by the tyranids, the Scythes oblivious of the xenos treachery, did their best to evacuate the people of noble Sotha. And the remnants of the Hoplitai proved their worth once more by systematically gunning down any officers or higher ups that tried to "escape" alongside their troops. It is said that the survivors of the Sothan 1st were the ones who brought the truth to Captain Thracian and chapter master Thorcyra which helped them uncover their own infections.

Again the Scythes offered them a choice en route to Miral, the Emperor peace or a beautiful death against the hated foe.

Nowadays the remnants of the Sothan 1st are highly specialised tyranids executioner. Whilst it is true that their numbers cannot allow for traditional conflicts their heavy equipment and tactical accumen shine alongside salvation and retribution squads in boarding actions against tyranids hive ships or uprooting and destroying genestealers cults in lower levels of hive cities.

I posted some wips more than a year ago, but never ended up posting my finished combat patrol. In hindsight, they need some extra highlights to kick up the contrast, but at the time they needed to be done for a 5way intro game with some friends. Anywho, just wanted to share them

Slowly but surely working through the last of this set of dudes; as a sidebar: I’m about 75/25 y/n on these scythe bits from PopGoesTheMonkey, I love them; but they are: - d e l I c a t e - I do intend to try their other/premium material when I refresh the bits, and I absolutely love them when I can avoid snapping them into pieces, even then, a busted piece can be put to good use with some effort (check the apothecary!) - captain w/ relic & Lt w/ volkite & shield are coming up next, and I’m looking forward to messing around with all the details!

I’m working on a sickle for the Sargent but until then they’re finished

Calling all battle brother and sisters of battle we are a up and coming successor chapter of the ultramarines looking to bring in new recruits to grow our numbers.

We offer structure for new recruits from day 1 with a lax activity requirement for those that aren’t able to game all the time as we value irl coming first before the game.

We also offer plenty of PVE operations with our current chapter brothers and will start expanding to PVP for those that enjoy that game mode also with titles and accolades you can earn for yourself to show off coming in very soon.

It has taken me all 10th to get them finished but they are finally done! They are really an amalgamation of three edition boxes - 8th, 9th and 10th!

Getting into a flow and really starting to feel I’m hitting consistently while still allowing myself to make mistakes/embrace ‘good enough from 3-4ft away.’

Really pleased with the color swap for the Chapter’s marking, repping the 5th. The relic chain blade was fun as well.

Notes re: the PopGoestheMonkey bits: easy enough to use/apply, getting them glued on might just be a skill issue, however on the whole I’ve managed getting them to stick and be centered at the same time.

These two are an example of me ‘rolling with it’ and, also of me not taking time to research colors.

So anyway, I’d been playing with the idea of doing all helmets in black, and then placing ‘semi-codex compliant’ color schemes on my specialist units; cue Apothecary White over Grey Seer spray base inevitably turning these guys into marble statues. So anyway, I doubled down and layered it with Administratum Grey and called it a day.

Still have a lot of cleanup to do, and bases to wrap up, but I’m pretty proud of letting myself get creative on these guys.
