I am a Salesforce Developer.
I'm currently serving a 90-day notice period (40 days remaining) and recently cleared the first round of interviews with XYZ Company, with the second round already scheduled.
After the interview, their HR reached out and asked whether I could start working before my notice period ends. The idea she proposed is that I work 2–3 hours daily for XYZ while still fulfilling my current role, and be compensated as a consultant based on the hours logged — though I'm still unclear on the exact structure.
Honestly, this feels like moonlighting to me, and I'm not comfortable with any arrangement that could raise ethical or professional concerns down the line.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? If XYZ meets my salary expectations, should I consider working as a consultant alongside my current notice period — or is it better to decline and wait it out?
Would really appreciate any advice or experiences you can share.
