Torn between calling the library a safe-haven or hell on earth. First of all, why does it smell like that? Once you go downstairs around the bathroom area and further back, it REEKS of armpit. it’s either armpit stench or piss. Secondly, has everyone just forgotten library etiquette? Seems like every time I’m trying to study, other students are always so loud and obnoxious. There is no reason as to why it should sound like we are currently in the quad or cafeteria — and god forbid you glance at those being loud or even clear your throat to quiet them down; they always make it seem like YOU’RE the problem. I’ve began to gaslight myself into thinking I’M the problem for not booking a study room 😭

Just got the alert about another homeless vagrant attack this morning, is SMC doing anything about this? I called the hotline in the past about a mentally unwell guy who was hanging out in the parking garage, and they sounded almost offended that id dare to call about someone crawling around between cars... Naturally 3 hours later he was still there sprawled out and staring me down as i walked to my car.

I haven't spent much time on or around campus but there do seem to be bad days as far as the local crowd goes, night classes would feel sketchy if i didn't have a car for sure. The issue is complex ofc but I think the least the school could do is trespass when necessary, wouldn't hurt to see a security guard patrol once in a while too.

I’m trying to take Math 2 & 2C

However i got an error saying I need to take Math 20 or Math 32. I check for both and NEITHER are being offered. How the heck am I supposed to take Math 2 then?

I don’t know how to write an essay. I know how to read of course and also understand what I’m reading, about but I don’t know how to write about what I’m reading. I feel ashamed i be feeling so lost for some reason I’ll literally be staring at a blink screen for almost a week straight I need help. I will pay somebody top dollars to teach me the craft of this essay writing because I don’t understand it for some reason.

I'm a current UC student trying to take GE credits at SMC then transfer them over to my UC, it says on Corsair connect that I need to have an education plan to enroll in classes - do I have to contact a counselor to do it? I'm on the website but it's saying I have to take a bunch of classes for my plan ... dawg lemme just take two and transfer dat over 🫩

Hi guys! I plan on getting some GE credits over with over the summer and I'm wondering which of the 2 classes I should take. I enrolled in 3 for now but I'm not sure which one to drop. I saw reviews on the professors teaching AHIS 1 and COMST 35 on guyde and they weren't bad but couldn't find anything regarding prof Streeper. Are these classes all pretty chill and easy As to take over the summer and which one should I drop? Any feedback would be much appreciated!!

I keep getting messages from random ppl who add me saying they viewed my profile and liked what they saw, and that they’re looking to build connections and potential business partners. I’ve also gotten some that offer me positions or offer to share information about their online business usually e-commerce.

Are these a scam??? It seems like they’re either a scam or something i should run away from. I’m not getting any good vibes from these, especially bc i’m a first year?!? I don’t have much experience and i’m assuming i would not be as sought out as a junior or senior since they take upper division courses and usually have internship experience.

Should i just ignore these messages, or should i politely decline, or should i actually have a chat with them?? Has anyone else experienced the same thing , if so what have you done?

It feels rude to ignore them bc i usually message random ppl on linkedin who go to the schools i would like to transfer to. I ask them abt their transfer experiences and why they chose the school. So i guess the “treat others how you would like to be treated” moral is on my mind right now too.

hi so for context i’m attending smc for the fall of 2026 and im planning on pursuing nursing so for my prerequisites i have to take ENGL C1000, STAT C1000, CHEM 10, COUNS 20

for ENGL C1000 i decided to take Lawrence driscoll
and for COUNS 20 i decided to take daniel cooper (but also considering galindo)

however i have no idea who to take for STAT C1000 and CHEM 10 pls help (fyi im bad at math so whoever can help me) although im considering daniel sanchez for chem 10 (pasha ebrahimi isn’t available this semester 🥲)

ps: before you say rex perez id love to take him but i cannot commute to malibu 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽

also pls tell me if lawrence driscoll and daniel cooper are good choices for those classes thank you

So i missed one class in biological sciences area to get an IGETC certification and added PSYCH 2 for summer and now prof saying that he'll use a zoom oral examination for his exams Im sobbing

Im going to be starting my first year at SMC this fall for Marketing and either wanna transfer to LMU or maybe Pepperdine. But LMU is my top choice. I will only be enrolled at SMC for one year as I will be studying abroad in London my second year (not sure the school yet as I haven’t figured out the details yet, likely a random school through a third party/private program). So I won’t be able to compete the TAG program as I won’t be enrolled at SMC at the time of transfer.

Im pretty good at upkeeping my grades to a 3.8-4.0, and am hoping to secure an internship on my year abroad or atleast do some extracurriculars there relating to marketing.

I am wondering what my chances are to transfer there without TAG.

How is the professor?? i’m planning to take them in the summer term along with an elective class. What should I expect, is it an easy pass?? what are some tips?? Should i regret my decision of enrolling in her class?🌚
