Tiple tonic is far more important than you think!

Made a post about it before but the gist of it is this.

With double adaptive, Doran's ring + Tear + Dark Seal + Blasting + Elixir of Force. You one shot the caster minions with an EQ and kill melees with a full combo AT LEVEL 6,7,8.

This saves you at the very least 3s (closer to 5s) of waveclear. Making it, in my opinion, MANDATORY!

DO NOT SLEEP ON IT!

How do you play this champ?

For context, I'm a mid-Emerald mid laner playing in the competitive scene (scrims, leagues, etc) and I just don't really understand how to maximize the value on this champ. I know his most fundamental skill combos and I think I have solid itemization (which I'll list below for review), but there's more I just don't understand with him. The only thing I think I understand quite well on how to play Ryze is that he's meant to hard shove the lane to keep prio. That's about where my Ryze knowledge ends. First, let's start with the build. Currently I do:

- Sorcs/Steelcaps/Merc Treads (depending on enemy team comp. Also I haven't played him since new boots came in so I haven't tried those yet.)
- RoA (Tear first, though)
- Archangels
- Actualizer if I feel like I can get away with it
- Situational between Rabadon's, Zhonyas, Frozen Heart, Shadowflame, and Void Staff, where I choose based on how much I need to survive vs how much damage I need to put out.

Here's a couple of points that I think I fundamentally misunderstand about how to extract value out of Ryze. If anyone has advice on any of these, I'd greatly appreciate it.

- Fighting feels awful. Because of Ryze's short range, I feel like I can hardly ever participate in a fight. If I'm in range for my spells, it feels like everyone on the enemy team is already in range for theirs, they get on top of me, and I lose a ton of HP just peeling them off before having to go back in and fight again.

- Late game feels extremely volatile. This probably pairs a lot with my previous point, but even though I do insane damage late game, I also feel like I die instantly late game to most champs/comps. Back to the "if I'm in range to cast my spells, I'm in lethal range for the enemy team" concept. Should I be doing like... 2 defensive items just to survive or something?

- What is his niche? While I do enjoy some Ryze and kept him in my competitive pool for a bit, it ended up being hard to justify picking him. I see he's picked a lot in pro play, but I don't really see why. When my team is drafting, I feel like anything I'd pick Ryze for, there's just better picks. So I'm assuming there's some kind of key piece I'm missing here.

Again, any advice is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Yoo we sleeping on that 𝑺𝒑𝒊𝒓𝒊𝒕 𝑽𝒊𝒔𝒂𝒈𝒆!

That 25% extra shield with the MR makes Mages and AP assassins regret waking up today. Yeah we lose on Rabadon's (rant again for why passive should be with levels) but on a mostly MR comp its more efficient.

Edit: AP* not MR

Friend of mine sawthe Subreddit and said "cult behaviour" and I found that we actually tick all the marks. Are we Ryze Cultists?

An awareness report

4 to 5 accounts successfully got SultansOfLeague down with blatantly racist posts over the span of 5 hours. It might, or will happen to this too if you don't take action. Report any and all posts that seem suspiciously tipping over the racist race war type of chud posting. Our brothers will be missed. I suspect draven mains got deleted for that too. Have a good one.

Edit: turns out dravenmains is still up. Sorry for the false status report. Still they got the SultansOfLeague down, that I know of.

They took it for me, the last thread that held my s̴a̸n̸i̶t̶y̵. I saw it fall, nerf after nerf. I was fine with it, because even if it was weaker, I knew phase rush was still there. But 𝐧𝐨𝐰 𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐠𝐨𝐧𝐞, cast aside and replaced by this pitiful mockery of a rune... It broke me, down to my core, I felt it. The blue light faded into darkness.

There were signs, I know you saw them. The slipping sanity. The indefensible takes. The desperate hope placed in a future that was never 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒍.

I waited for salvation a change, a patch, a rework. Something. But nothing came.

I fell into to flames. And amidst the inferno, I found warmth.

The fault is mine. The Rune mage is changing and I am resisting.

Runios

You taught me everything Ryze, but alas you did not teach me victory. A̷s̶ ̴i̵f̷ ̸y̶o̵u̸ ̶w̷a̵n̷t̸e̶d̸ ̵m̸e̷ ̴t̶o̶ ̴f̴a̶i̶l̵.

TLDR: Long summary of my 1st Ryze game, leading me to want to try maining him. Big issue was roaming, but otherwise I felt my laning was meh with little amounts of kills. Any resources to pursue my learning with and general Ryze advice/educational content?

All of this below isn't really important, just like writing for fun.

Despite the title implying I went 50/0/10, it was a massive defeat. I think we broke one turret in midlane, but otherwise we barely left base, mainly me. Surprisingly, it was the most fun I've had in quite a while.

I didn't do too hot in the early game. Versed Katarina and used E-W to trade, doing fine. But not really gaining anything. My CS was okay, but it took a while to get my items.

My team all wasn't doing so hot. My Pantheon was positive and I spent most of the game even/positive, but Katarina was the only negative player on their team for the majority of the game.

I hit an angelic gank on the Teemo player (Renekton was doing pretty good vs him btw. He was a hero, despite being 2/10) and got a shutdown trade. I don't think it was worth since Kat got bunches of plates, but Nekton got a moral boost.

Roaming is my weakest point, so I didn't gank as much as I should've into bot that was pushed in. That was my huge mistake that game and I should've just went out of my comfort zone more. I could've been the win con. Still kinda was due to me being very slippery and able to chunk & CC the fed enemies, but it wasn't really winnable from the moment Diana got off Herald for free in midlane.

Now the fun part. I didn't pass our jungle, and was in base the next 20 minutes. My waveclear and CC was allowing me to still beat on the fed villains whilst clearing minions. Our nexus was open the whole time, they got like 3 or 4 barons, every turret and inhib etc.

Yet we held the line. I mentally shattered the enemy Urgot support and Katarina with my Stormraiders speed allowing me to run away at a brisk pace.

Eventually I couldn't kill off everything fast enough and Teemo + 20 minions got through, ending the game.

I had lots of fun, though and am considering straight up maining Ryze.
