What kind of pressure do you think the GTA VI team faces that players don’t see?

Hi everyone,

we are students from Germany and we are doing a school presentation inspired by Plato’s cave allegory. Our topic is basically about how people often judge others without really seeing the full reality behind their situation.

We wanted to use Rockstar and GTA VI as a modern example, because from the outside people mostly see trailers, delays, hype, expectations, leaks, and the final result. But they usually do not see the pressure behind all of that.

We wanted to ask this community:

  • What kind of pressure do you think Rockstar developers are under with a game like GTA VI?
  • Do you think fans sometimes judge studios too quickly when they only see the outside perspective?
  • What do you think people often forget about the humans behind such a huge project?

We are not asking for insider info, just your honest thoughts as fans/followers of Rockstar.

Thank you.

Gta online has the security of a candy shop

Like seriously, anyone can hack this game, even a helpless toddler by watching a Indian YouTube tutorial.

Because you connect directly to other players, your IP address is visible to everyone in your session. Modders can use this to identify your general location or launch DDoS attacks to knock you offline.

Remote Code Execution (RCE)

Even with the addition of BattlEye in late 2024, mod menu developers quickly created kernel-level bypasses. Since the game runs locally on your hardware, hackers have nearly unlimited time to reverse-engineer its defenses.

Unlike consoles, which use "walled garden" security that prevents users from easily modifying system files, the open nature of Windows makes it easy for "script kiddies" to inject malicious code directly into the game. processMod menus exploit this by sending commands that your game thinks are legitimate, such as this player just died or this player just gained $10 million

Switching from P2P to dedicated servers would require a massive overhaul of the game's core engine, which Rockstar has likely deemed too costly for a game this old.

They only keep the servers until gta 6 and to milk as much as possible for one last time

I bought a pc to play GTA v online without paying any subscriptions coming from console and I regret it

oh my God I just can't believe it I can't I can't I just can't I can't believe it I need a VPN to play this game or else I might get ddosed attacked or have my shit leaked or get swatted Like this entire week I was playing GTA online and in one of two servers there was a hacker The very first time it happened it was like a few days ago I was like in water trying to get something something for my cayo perico heist And I was getting electrocuted in the water for no reason and like I was stuck in the water I couldn't swim I couldn't do anything because I was getting electrocuted no reason The other day I was playing and I wanted to be a little toxic with my sparrow not toxic just throw some players who weren't carrying any cargo just cruising around I tried to destroy their vehicle which was a banshee and it was indestructible that's one second they got out of their car and I shot rockets at them they were invincible and I get aimboted tru the back of my helicopter I could go on and on but right now which pissed me really a lot I was flying my sparrow just a few seconds ago and I suddenly get stopped mid air like my sparrow was grabbed by something and I got exploded and thrown across the map and then I got kicked off the server by the hacker I literally I can't believe it I need a VPN to play this game because now I'm scared if they can kick me out of the server they can see my real IP address because Rockstar uses this outdated peer to peer connection I just I wish I never switched to to PC to play online games I also play other games like battlefield 6 and so on sure there are hackers there too but I'm not scared about them leaking my IP address dude Like genuinely if you want to have a nice experience playing GTA online and make sure you're safe and not getting ddosed attacked kicked off the server aimboted exploded and thrown across the map Just play on console recommended you play on PS5 since that's where most people play GTA online from the newest leaks sure I know the PS5 can get hacked but it's way way way harder and it's very rare For example I played GTA online for a year and a half I had everything bunker submarine penthouse and other for businesses and never ever I have ever stumbled upon a hacker This is just such a downgrade in the quality of my game

Imagine your game being so fuck ass You make players go back on console fucking hell

What’s a franchise that Rockstar should return to?

Rockstar has many franchises under their belt that they’ve neglected due to GTA and Red Dead making them billions. IMO, Midnight Club and Bully need to return. I’d say Manhunt too but we all know they ain’t gonna go back to that (which sucks cause it’s a good horror franchise in their name). In your opinion which franchise should they go back to?

GTA has evolved and GTA VI will expand on what they did in RDR II in terms of immersion

Both GTA and RDR franchises have evolved from simple, smaller arcadey games like GTA III and Red Dead Revolver to these vast open-world games full of details, activities, enterable places and interactions with NPCs, animals, objects and more that make those worlds feel more “alive”.

Hunting, fishing, looting places, robbing people or choosing to be nice with them and small features like just sitting around, smoking a cigarette, drinking coffee, taking a bath/shower to clean our characters up or checking the time on your watch/phone are now things us as players can do in these worlds.

Incredible details like sweating or sunburn, hair growth, musculature and different facial expressions depending on your character’s mood…

“But GTA is not a simulator” well, while it will not simulate real life 1:1, many of these new details, features and activities they’re adding are intended to do so within the worlds they’re creating.

If you don’t like doing all these things that’s fine, you can always choose to play more chaotic and forget about all these things, but let Rockstar push forward and let other people enjoy all these immersive features.

GTA 5 is overhated

I’ve been going back through older GTA games just for the fun of it and GTA 5 is genuinely one of the greatest games ever made and people need to stop pretending they always hated it.

Everyone acts like it’s some mid game now and GTA 4 is this hidden gem that only the “real ones” appreciated. Bro, I was there. People HATED the driving in GTA 4. It felt like you were driving a boat on ice and everyone would not shut up about it. Rockstar listened, made GTA 5 feel more responsive and fun to drive, and now those same people act like GTA 4’s physics were peak gaming. Pick a side.

And the content complaints? GTA 4 was constantly getting roasted for being bare bones compared to San Andreas. No planes, stripped down activities, way less to do. So what did Rockstar do? Gave us GTA 5 with three protagonists, a massive map, more vehicles, more activities, more everything. Still not good enough apparently.

This is just what happens with massively popular things. Once something gets too much praise people try overly hard to be different.

GTA 5 actually holds up insanely well. I’ve been playing it on PS5 Pro recently and it genuinely looks and feels like it could have dropped this year. The graphics, map design, the story, the detail in the world, it’s still crazy impressive. Most games from 2013 don’t even come close to aging that well.

Rockstar gave people exactly what they asked for after GTA 4 and people still found a way to complain. In another 10 years I’m sure people will flip and talk about GTA 5 the way they talk about GTA 4 now since that just seems like how it always goes once the nostalgia kicks in.

Be honest… are we overhyping GTA 6? Feels like expectations are so high that even a great game might disappoint some people. What do you actually expect from it?

Why won’t R* remove Collin’s music and missions and re-release this banger?

I think this is the best time to give both LCS & VCS a true definitive edition before GTA VI.

Like seriously, why won’t Rockstar just remove Phil Collin’s content and re-release it? I’m pretty sure the majority of people wouldn’t care.

HIS last dm to me was EXPRESSING excitement for GTA 6 then he passed away 12 days later help me immortalize him in gta 6

I met one of my best friends, Aaron Michael Anderson, in a GTA Online lobby. What started as all out war turned into a real brotherhood—hours of gaming, building a community, and talking about life.

He passed away in December 2023. One of his last messages was about his excitement for GTA 6.

@Rockstar Games — please help immortalize him in any way. A name, a star, even just the color green 💚
