Lollapalooza daily schedule released
And still nothing from riot.
And still nothing from riot.
Makes me think the lineup announcement was waiting on whatever this MCR announcement is, considering they are a front runner for headliner.
Last year I didn’t watch one headliner .I watch 9 to 10 amazing bands . I tried to watch Weezer I saw them on the blue album tour with the Figs but .. Jack White wiped the floor with them . Anyhow stoked for the festival . Cheers !
Just met Mike Ness at Reckless Records during a signing for their new album and he just confirmed that they will be playing! Seems pretty obvious when you look at the gap in their tour but nice to hear it from the man himself!
My friend straight up gave up waiting for the line up. Decided to go to LTL instead. I get it but also Riot is so much more my taste. Sad times since I can't go alone. The deal was if they announced by today then they'd go. Fuck
With Pearl Jam confirmed for Ohana fest later in September, what are the chances they also play Riot?
RF should definitely have a Great White/Slaughter or Lovin' Spoonful/Sugar Hill Gang double billing
They are actively touring during September and October. They are in Canada on the 18th but nothing after that until a stop in Memphis on October 1.
Does anyone else feel like the posturing RF does, for lack of better description "dickishness", is getting old and played out?
Like, it was cute, playful, and funny for awhile, but these days I feel like it hurts their brand. Like, things are a bit darker culturally than they have been in our lifetimes. Looking forward to a line-up release isn't something people should be mocked for.
The tide turned for me when they blocked me on all social media for pointing out the dangerous situation they were creating with the split stage set-up for MCR, essentially halving the potential space for people to get front and center for that set that they ended up appearing to oversell. Sure, I may have scolded them and even accused them of being worse than live nation 😅, but whatever. Don't dish it if you can't take it imo
I used to buy pre-sale every year, and I still look forward to the potential of having days I want to go, but my loyalty to the fest is over due to what I would describe as poor taste on their part. I'm wondering if anyone else feels the same way?
Here's my old man yelling at cloud moment.
They typically release the lineup in mid-to-late May. There have been two recent exceptions. Last year in April. 2024 in June. Nearly every other time it's mid-to-late-May going all the way back to 2012. I know that when I buy tickets. You should know that when you buy tickets. It'll probably be mid-May next year. So, keep that in mind when this time rolls around in 2027.
If you don't like their snarky posts, totally understand. But for me, that wouldn't be the reason I don't go to a festival. A history of amazing lineups (that I'll find out in mid-May) is what does it for me.
Sorry, rant over.
I have never been to Riot Fest, but this year I finally got a ticket when they first went on sale many weeks ago. I am guessing the festival just tells you who is performing when you get there? And if you ask in advance, they just make a snarky comment. So much mystery.
Best has to be a toss-up between The Cure and 2023 and NIN in 2022, but that kind of goes without saying as they're widely regarded as two of the best, if not THE two best, live bands in music.
Worst goes to MCR for reasons outside of the band's control. I wouldn't mind them coming back for a redemption performance because the circumstances that led to that mess wouldn't be present. And they're a killer live show when things go according to plan.
Biggest surprise was Beck. I'm surprised to see people complain about him headlining 2024 to this day. He was an incredibly dynamic performer, with a ton of energy and fun improvisation.
