GMF Datejust Repair

Bought this watch for the wife, used twice and it’s completely dead - The second hand will not budge although I can feel movement inside the watch.

  1. Tried shaking it for a minute

  2. Wound it back like 20x

Unfortunately still will not move.

Anyone know of a watch repair place in Greater Manchester/North West (UK) that could work on this? Or any other suggestions?

Two month old Yacht master packed up - help and advice please.

I’m having a terrible rep day. Enough to put me off. On. Another post I have asked about a TD sending me the incorrect watch. Waited weeks and opened the package and the incorrect watch therein. Next problem. Purchased a lovely, beautiful Yacht Master, the white gold type with oyster flex band, weighted, DD movement. Wore around the house, never left home. Marvelled at it as my best rep. Wound it weekly, loved the long power reserve. Decided to wear it out the first time today. Got it out my watch box last night, wound it, set the time and placed it in my watch winder over night. This morning, the watch was hours out, I mean hours. Dint think much of it. Didn’t notice if it was working or not. Corrected the time, round it up, put on my wrist - everything great. I’m. Out and about, look at my watch - lost time. Corrected it…..look at it later, lost time, corrected it. Sat in traffic, look at my watch! It’s not working. I straighten my wrist, it starts working, I turn my wrist and It stops working. I take it of my wrist, shake it, can just about hear the rotor. Park where I’m going……video the problem on my phone, arm normal, watch work, turn my arm, watch stops. Send message to TD with video, confirms something is not right! He confirms that the manufacturer (VSF) have a warranty. Says he is going to get back to me after he has spoken to his supplier. My TD is uk based and a small TD (I think). What do you think will happen? a) I return it to my TD, he returns it to his supplier, his supplier sends it to VSF in China for repair, b) I send it my my Uk TD and he send it to a Uk watch repairer for repair, c) I get a replace, ent watch ( unlikely ) d) He refunds me my money (even less likely) ?

I think I have read that some Chinese TDs have UK contacts, but I think these are the major players .

This watch was far too expensive for me to bin and it’s only just over 2 months old.

Should I ask for recommendations for a uk watch maker that will repair reps and spend even more money and paying for the repair myself?

I thought about taking the back off and having a look but the realised what the point, I don’t know what I would be looking at and even if I saw the problem haven’t the knowledge or skill to repair it - I doubt a squirt of WD40 all purpose oil will help!!!!!!!

I must have been some horrible bast…ad in some former life to have this grief in one day

Helpful and sympathetic comments and response would be helpful…..please don’t make my day even worse by making rude, snide or insulting remarks.
