Stabbing at Sequoia Station.. Nothing to see here...

Press Release: Suspect Arrested After Stabbing Victim in Grocery Store

SUBJECT:  Suspect Arrested After Stabbing Victim in Grocery Store

LOCATION: 1071 El Camino Real, Redwood City

DATE/TIME: May 9, 2026, Approximately 10:59 P.M.

On May 9, 2026, the Redwood City Police Department received numerous 911 calls reporting an altercation involving a stabbing and possible shooting at the Safeway located at 1071 El Camino Real in Redwood City. Officers responded immediately and, upon arrival, several witnesses pointed out the suspect. Officers detained the suspect without incident.

Responding officers located an adult male victim suffering from a stab wound to the abdomen, along with several additional superficial wounds consistent with an edged weapon assault. Redwood City Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and provided medical treatment.
The preliminary investigation revealed the following:

Two victims were in the self-checkout area of the store when the suspect approached the adult male victim and, without apparent provocation, began assaulting him with a knife. During the attack, an adult female victim used a shopping cart in an attempt to fend off the suspect and protect the male victim.

At some point during the altercation, the male victim produced a firearm and discharged a single round. The suspect then fled from inside the store into the parking lot area, where he was quickly detained by responding officers.

The discharged round struck a computer monitor inside the store and no injuries resulted from the gunfire.

At this time, it is unknown whether the victims and suspect knew each other prior to the incident. Investigators do not believe any additional suspects are involved, and there is no ongoing threat to the public.

The suspect was identified as 31-year-old Isidro Zamora-Cisneros of Redwood City. He was arrested and booked into the San Mateo County Maguire Correctional Facility on the following charges:

  • 664/187 PC – Attempted Murder
  • 11377(a) H&S – Possession of Methamphetamine
  • 11550(a) H&S – Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance
  • 11364(a) H&S – Possession of Narcotic Paraphernalia

Anyone with information related to this case is encouraged to contact the Redwood City Police Department’s non-emergency line at (650) 780-7100.

State of our rental market

What do you even call this? Small business landlords quickly following the corporate landlords in jacking up the rent to insane levels.

Where to live in the Bay Area? Apartment Search.

In late May, I'll be moving to the Bay Area (from the East Coast) for work. I'm 22, single, no kids. I've been looking for an apartment and having no luck. Every place that looks good seems to have terrible reviews. Zillow listings aren't helping.

My budget is 3700 for rent. I don't care for amenities, I just need the appliances and bathroom to look new. I strongly prefer the place to be renovated.

I love San Francisco as a city so I would ideally want to live there, but I know the quality and costs are probably a lot worse. San Mateo, Foster City, and Redwood City are also very nice.

Any suggestions for 1BR or Studio apartments to look into?

How are the 24 hour fitness in San Carlos and RWC?

Filthy? Overly crowded at all hours? Just fine? Looking for a gym to use machines and dumbbells.

Biking from redwood shores to San Carlos Caltrain?

Is it safe to bike from redwood shores to the San Carlos cal train station? I’m particularly concerned about the stretch over the 101. Just want to know if it feasible for an average biker

Would give this place zero stars if possible. Arrived today for my 1:30pm appointment. Bored and disinterested front desk guy tried several upsell attempts, created my work order, I paid, and he asked for my keys and said it would take 2-3 hrs, to come back at 4:30pm and my car would be done.

Came back at 4:15pm, saw my car still in the same spot outside, no tint applied. They hadn’t even started working on it yet. Same indifferent employee returning a car next to mine to another customer, who was pissed off he had dropped his car at 9am and was just picking it up after 4pm.

Front desk guy starts trying to tell me they had already cut the film for my car. He lied. I saw the only guy doing the actual film cutting and application, coming out of another office with a box of tint roll telling me they were about to start working on my car. I told front desk guy to give me my keys, I’m not wasting any more time. These a-holes wasted three hours of my Saturday afternoon and never even started working on my car. Tint guy told me in Spanish that front desk guy is an a-hole, knew he had 3 cars in front of mine and no way they could get to my car today.

I’m disputing the entire charge and will be reporting this place to the BBB and RWC COC.

ANNOYING AND PATHETIC SERVICE-AVOID AT ALL COSTS

I was arrested March 11 and stayed for two days in the San Mateo County sheriffs office jail in Redwood City off Bradford Street and the women’s side. When I was released, they said that they were unable to find my property and went ahead and released me with nothing I had previously while in Custody released my property to someone, but they never came to pick it up because they did not have ID. When I go to the front office at Bradford Street to inquire about my property where it is why is it not being returned to me? They said we don’t know we don’t have it last. We have a record of it. Is this person was supposed to pick it up and I said, but that person never came to pick it up they said well sorry that’s it. Nothing else like what the fuck seriously??

Menlo Park police department where I was arrested and was then transferred they released my money back to me. That’s all they said that they had possession of, but I had debit credit cards gift cards, a whole fat stack of cards as well as my phone a keychain that had a hot pink fuzzy loop on it and bells on it no shit. And I also had my earrings my rings, my necklaces, my bracelets, my shoelaces, my hair ties like I mean it was all my personal property that I was wearing that I had to change out of other than my clothes and takeoff basically to give to them, they have all of that my keys. I can’t even use my work van now because I have no keys to it. I’m really upset about this because one of the rings was a very, very valuable and prize heirloom ring that I don’t understand how they can lose a hot pink bright big ass keychain that has bells on it I mean seriously they said Welp file of complaint with the County which I have done but still nothing all my credit card debit cards. I had to get replaced not to mention get my car out of impound and pay the fees, etc. etc. it’s been a fucking disaster and all my gift cards that I had I had like a fat stack of gift cards that I keep in my purse for whenever I’m at that place I can pull it out and use it. You know it’s like what the hell dude where is my shit and how do I get it back? Does anybody have any insight on this at all, any help would be great. I did file the report with the county or the complaint but they stamped the paper and said here you go and you know it’s not like they give a shit and I’ve gone back four or five times to the same guy and he’s not being very helpful and they call down the property. I’ve even checked with the actual sheriffs office. They said no that’s with the jail you know I don’t know what else to do. I really don’t. I’m at a loss as to where the hell my shit went and why they’re not giving it back.

Any recommendations for an affordable, family-owned veterinarian business (not private-equity owned)? My last vet cost me $600+ for an annual exam where my dog had NO HEALTH ISSUES and was found to be in good health, some of that money was due to like 2 vaccines but damn that's excessive when there's no health issues and im just getting 2 vaccines. (Also, no need to talk about pet insurance, I can't afford the $100/month premiums right now) Thanks!

Beginning this May, Freemasonry will once again have a presence in Redwood City, with meetings held at the Odd Fellows Hall on Main St.

There’s a meaningful local history behind this. Freemasonry was active here as early as 1863 through Redwood City Lodge No. 168. In 2000, that lodge relocated to San Carlos, where it continues its work today. Now, in 2026, Freemasonry is returning to Redwood City.

I understand that Freemasonry can sometimes feel unfamiliar or even misunderstood. That’s completely fair.

At its core, what we are building is something straightforward and intentional:

  • A group of people who meet regularly
  • To engage in thoughtful conversation and reflection
  • To explore philosophy and personal development
  • To participate in structured traditions and ceremonies
  • And to share time together, often around a table

It is less about secrecy, and more about creating a space for meaningful connection and disciplined inquiry.

This lodge is part of a broader tradition of Freemasonry that is co-ed and grounded in freedom of thought. It exists alongside other forms of Freemasonry, each contributing in its own way to a wider and diverse fraternity.

For those who are looking for something more deliberate than casual social spaces—something rooted in reflection, structure, and community—this may be of interest.

Honoring Mothers and the Quiet Work of Building Humanity

Today, we want to take a moment to honor all mothers around the world, including the Sisters of our Lodge who balance motherhood with their Masonic journey.

Motherhood is one of the most important and often underappreciated forms of human labor. Through patience, sacrifice, wisdom, and love, mothers help shape not only their families, but the future itself. They are often our first teachers, showing us compassion, integrity, responsibility, and the courage to think for ourselves.

In Liberal Freemasonry, also known as mixed-gender or co-ed Freemasonry, we believe that every person has the capacity to grow, to learn, and to contribute to the betterment of humanity. Mothers embody this work every day by nurturing curious minds, strengthening families, and helping raise thoughtful and caring human beings.

We are especially grateful to the Sisters of Pacific Moon Lodge who unite the responsibilities of motherhood with a commitment to personal growth, service, and the continual improvement of self and society.

To all mothers everywhere, thank you for the quiet and essential work you do in building a better world.

Happy Mother's Day.

Who are you guys using for homeowners insurance in the Woodside/Redwood City?

I’m using State Farm, because a few years ago they were the only one I could find.

Who else will do this area? Chubb, Cincinnati, and Farmers refused to quote saying it’s in a fire zone. (Even though it’s right outside the zone)

I just moved to the area, but I've always lived in the bay. Most cities I moved to have some type of annual event. I'm curious if Redwood City has anything a wine walk in summer, Christmas things, or flea markets.. I know there's a farmers market. Any recs are appreciated.

I just got a new job in Redwood City and need to get my BLS certification in order before my first week. My boss says I need to have an American Heart Association certification, not just any CPR card. I've been looking online, and there are so many choices that I can't tell which ones are real and which ones make the right card. Can anyone in the Redwood City or Peninsula area who has done this recently help me out?

Hi does anyone know what the membership costs will be for the new YMCA at Red Morton. Looks like a really nice facility. I couldn’t find any details online. But it must be opening soon because the construction fence is down, and there’s a ribbon cutting ceremony on May 4th.
