I'm working on a Home Assistant client for modified R1 devices.

It is in early stages, but very functional already.

Rabbit R1 Recorder has finally matured

I've been extremely harsh on certain aspects of the R1 because I really wanted it to be a tool and not a toy. There were several limitations and factors that kept it from that status IN MY OPINION.
I've been very vocal in particular about the recorder being horrible, not always uploading, shutting down without warning, not being good quality, etc.
I am happy to say that I have been using the recorder for a month solid now, and I am ready to sell my plaud device because the rabbit gets the job done much better than plaud does now, with the exception of battery life.

I love being able to insert photos, and the analysis that I get afterwards is quite good. being able to jump to a part in a transcript (where it even captures people's names) and listen to that particular part is great (at least in rabbit hole, I don't think this is available on the device yet)

At any rate, I wanted to say this because I have been so critical, I don't complain just to complain. When something gets this much better it deserves to be know so I wanted to let everyone know the recorder is so much better than it used to be, and stands toe to toe with devices like Plaud, and sometimes has even more functionality.

Even if the battery is still crap 😛

So, as someone who spent the 1980s reading Computer Magazines cover to cover, I always enjoyed the ads as much as the articles! No naturally I decided to make an 1980s style ad for the R1. Just a bit of fun… Hope you like ❤️

Tried my best to prompt a Pokédex via intern. Still some bugs but pretty good for a first try.

I was one of the original purchasers of the R1, and at the time I didn’t have any idea what to do with it. So….i did nothing with it. It’s been sitting activated but unused all this time. But today after hearing the rumbling that the device is seemingly coming into its own, I charged and updated it.

So the question is, what can it do now? What’s the functions that make it useful? Anything you’d want to tell people about the device if they just started out with it?

Nei prossimi giorni mi arriverà il "RABBIT R1", HO UN DUBBIO, ma l'utilizzo dell ia sarà per sempre free? Io pago un abbonamento per perplexity e vorrei non doverlo più rinnovare

Really hope the subscription stays to unlimited tasks or certainly more than 33 going forward. I get so much out of this system and corrections need to be made to each entry, it’s been a real nice system for me.

Hey everyone! I created an NTS Radio player for the Rabbit R1 that lets you stream NTS 1, NTS 2, and 16 curated infinite mixtapes directly on your device.

I didn't use the Rabbithole AI intern to build it. Well I did, but basically three prompts wasted for not much... I found the open-source [creations-sdk](https://github.com/rabbit-hmi-oss/creations-sdk) repo from rabbit-hmi-oss, which explains how to write and deploy R1 creations outside of Rabbithole. This was super helpful for understanding the SDK and self-hosting on Vercel.

Features:

  • infinite mixtapes (ambient, house, jazz, hip-hop, and more)
  • Smart controls: scroll wheel for volume/mixtape browsing, side button for play/pause

Installation:

Just scan the QR code or use the readme within the repo. Alternatively, locally npm run dev) to install on your R1.

I'm not a "trusted" source in Rabbithole, but the code is fully open-source if you want to review it before installing:

GitHub: https://github.com/ReCire/r1-nts-radio

Thanks to the rabbit-hmi-oss team for making the SDK available, great to see the community building tools to work outside the walled garden.

TLDR: Need to pull transcripts and photos off the r1 from rabbit hole as they are added either with a web hook or api or even some mcp instance, preferably accessed through a local n8n... Is there a way to access these? I would like to be able to use my rabbit as the sole device throughout my day to update the below workflow but if I am locked into the rabbit environment then that won't work.

BACKGROUND:

DO NOT PITCH ME YOUR PROJECT I AM BUILDING THIS TRYING TO LEARN SO I DONT WANT YOUR APP

I recently purchased an r1 because I was going to build a solution with a pi5, a camera, and a microphone and then I thought

"wait the r1 is perfect for this... and cheaper than building it all from scratch"

I have a custom paper planner I built it has a yearly, monthly, weekly and daily scale, to-do lists, etc.

Right now each morning when I wake up I have a printed morning briefing on my printer waiting for me that my agents put together and printed. It has a short list of "important emails" I need to respond to, top things happening in AI from an RSS feed, it has what I need to get done on my calendar, things I need to add to my paper calendar from emails or voice notes, anything I need to do for class, where my bank accounts sit and my investments... all of it, 3 pages of formatted digital life that I have deemed important.

Then it has all the things the agents did yesterday and where they got on all the projects, and what they are going to work on today, when do they for see getting stuck on a task, what permissions might they need, what guardrails are in place, how will they communicate with me during the day etc.

I give them feedback right now through my cell phone but I do not want to type it or pick up my phone at all....

With my regular job, 2 businesses, 2 masters programs, 2 kids, and trying to focus on my health I dont really have time to get distracted by the phone. Also I work in an area where I cannot have my phone so having the paper journal as the START point is key. I have been post training a small model to understand the calendar color scheme (I highlight tasks to color code them) and how I use the system at large. The printed brief gets hole punched into the planner and its all I take with me. It's a good system but I find myself getting pulled into the phone more and more as I have time freed up by using this system. So I want to avoid the phone. I just loaded a complete blocking app onto the phone but still I dont want the screen at all...

So I was going to build a pi5 with a camera and a voice recorder, get the recording/picture sent to the system, and then get the updates added to my agentic workflow through a local n8n.

But then I thought, r1 gives me that plus all the other capabilities. I can avoid the "noise" and have the system fully work with some extras... all for less than the price of a pi5 and all the other parts..

HOWEVER, now that I have my r1 I do not see a way to integrate it into my local hosted n8n instance to receive the transcriptions, photos, etc.

Pretty impressed with the r1 right now and actually thinking about paying for the 69 a month sub since its been 2 days and I have already found a lot of use... but being able to connect it to my other work would be a 100% upgrade...

I recently switched from the openclaw gateway to a Hermes Agent but I would be willing to use openclaw as the entry point if that is the only way to do this.
