"Something catch you're eye" emails?

Is there a way to opt out of these emails? I don't want to cancel every email from them, I just don't need multiple emails a day asking if something caught my eye

Co-op Cycles; ADV 2.x/3.x New Release/Sales Soon?

What do we expect/know about upcoming changes/additions/sales for REI Co-op Cycle's ADV line of gravel bikes?

I'm in the market for some new wheels and the ADV gravel bikes are looking very attractive to me, but seems like the 2.1 will either go on sale soon or a new model might be released, or both? For the ADV line, REI currently only lists the ADV 2.1 at $1,499, which as far as I can tell was last refreshed in 2024. I'm not quite clear on exactly the distinction/progression between the 2.1/2.2/3.1 models, admittedly.

Looks like REI has historically offered discounts on bikes during the annual May/Memorial Day sales, so I'm hopeful there will be cool new specs and/or helpful discounts. I went to my city's flagship store yesterday but the bike department guys were too busy and I couldn't wait around to talk it over with them.

If you were in my shoes, what would you hope/expect to see from REI for their Co-op Cycles this year?

Will sale items have additional discount on 5/15?

Asking about REI brand or other brands that are already on sale, will they have additional discount during their biggest sale?

Also what are brands that will be excluded from the sale?

REI website product links no longer links?

Anybody else notice recently that the product results pages cannot be middle-clicked to open in new tabs?

To me, this totally breaks the way I browse REI items online. There's no way I am going to have the patience to replace my results with one product and try to back out again and wait for the whole UI to thrash or maybe forget where I was.

Ironically, the "provide feedback" link doesn't work for me either. I did try.

If it matters, I am using Firefox and uBlock Origin. And, no, I will not turn off all the regular privacy features that I have been using for years...

Plants in the store

I'm a green vest and the other night in huddle, I mentioned that with the weather getting warmer, we should tidy up our outdoor break area: clean the grill, wipe down the tables and bring some new plants.

Mgmt responded that plants are no longer allowed on property per some memo she saw. Anyone have any more background,

Rev 20 6-speed colors

Any chance there’s anyone on this sub who knows if and when different colors for the rev 20 6-speed would ever become available? It’s a shame they only have the one color available. I want to get one for my son but he doesn’t want the sun ray color. I don’t live close enough to my local REI store to keep checking in for a used one in a different color and I feel like a pain in the ass if I keep calling to ask if anything came in.

Cashier forgot to scan some items

I was REI the other day and the cashier forgot to scan two of three items (a hat and some shoes, total worth about $200). I was signing up for the REI credit card and I guess he forgot as he was guiding me through it. I thought it was pretty cheap but figured maybe it was due to a discount with the card or something and wasn’t about to complain. He put all the items in a bag, so I figured he scanned everything but when I finally got my email receipt I saw I only paid for one item.

I feel bad and was going to go back but my friends are saying I should just take the W. I should go back right?

EDIT: Thank you everyone for all the replies. After much thought, I think the concern of getting an employee fired or in trouble is a worse harm than REI losing out on $200, so I've opted to just keep the items. Maybe if REI changes its stance on unions I would feel comfortable going back, but until then I think I'll I just keep the items and donate to a legal charity or something.

Should I recommend REI to a friend as a safe place to buy an ebike?

I’m retired, but I spent 40+ years in the bike industry on the design and manufacturing side of things, including being involved in the development of multiple ebike projects.

A friend has asked for my advice on what kind of E bike to get and where. His budget is relatively low and he wants to use this for riding into the back country.

My default advice would be for him to go to a local IBD that can sell him a major brand and be there to service it.

Do you think REI fits the bill?

Edit: thanks for the responses so far. My real question now is how they tend to be on support and repairs

Rei account hacked

I had a weird thing happen through REI online. I started receiving emails about two orders of expensive shoes. I didn't order anything, I checked with my husband and son and they didn't order anything either. So I looked at the invoices and someone purchased two separate orders of shoes with my REI account number. They did not use my rewards and did not hack into my credit info. They used my name and they are purchased from one address and each pair of shoes is being sent to other addresses across the country. I then found another pair still in my cart. I went into my local REI store for them to help investigate and they could not figure it out. I then chatted with someone online and they also cannot figure it out. Nothing important was hacked. I did change my password. Has heard of this happening? I'm wondering if someone who doesn't have an account just wanted free shipping? Why else would they do this?

One piece of plastic saved me $60

I stopped by REI looking for this exact make/model/size. When I pulled into the parking lot I told myself "make sure you check the re/supply, there is always a chance." Sure enough, there it was. I mean, I was going to wash the water bottles anyway.

Any asset protection support specialists?

Current DC employee (5 years last month) in need of a change. Recently checked out some internal job postings and wondered if the APSS role would be worth considering. Please comment or PM if you’re willing to be open and honest. This is not a clickbait post from leadership and I will absolutely NOT doxx you.

Did REI stop carrying the ACR ResQLink 400 PLB?

I've got the ACR ResQLink 400 saved in my wish list, and when I click on it, I get a "Product not found" error.

Anyone know if they not going to carry it at all anymore, or is it just out of stock? I was very close to pull the trigger, so this sucks if I missed the opportunity.

Traverse 35 water bottle misfit

I bought my traverse 35 and love everything about it EXCEPT — the water bottle holder, since it slants towards you, makes my water bottle constantly rub against my back/arm. I’m just using a normal 700ml hydroflask. Does anyone have recs to fix this?? I may end up looking into a bladder but will have to reconfigure the inside of my pack.

ALSO - the “phone” hip pockets are so big that my arms (around the elbow) are constantly rubbing against it. I got this pack fitted this way at REI and didn’t notice all this rubbing in the store despite walking around with it.

I’ll go back and ask about it all but wonder if anyone’s experienced something similar.
