The Bewitching Flower Waits at Home
It had been a long, exhausting day. I hadn’t been home in over a week, caught in the endless demands of a business trip that seemed to stretch far longer than it should have. And through every meeting, every sleepless night, every mile on the road, only one thought stayed with me.
How would my wife of two years greet me when I finally returned?
Would she run into my arms and hold me tight? Would she cry and scold me for being gone so long? Or would she pout, throwing one of her adorable little tantrums just to make me work for her forgiveness?
I smiled to myself at the thought as I drove through the quiet night, my heart growing lighter with every mile that brought me closer to home.
At last, after what felt like an eternity, I finally arrived.
I stepped out of the car, straightened my suit, fixed my hair, and took a slow breath before pressing the doorbell. My pulse quickened with anticipation.
But no one answered.
“Maybe Ramonu is asleep,” I murmured to myself. “Or perhaps she’s still at the Mejiro estate.”
I glanced at my watch. 2:30.
With a quiet sigh, I reached for the door and stepped inside.
The house was still.
As I looked around, the soft glow of the lamps painted the room in gold. The living room was spotless, the air faintly scented with tea and lavender. Even the bedrooms were immaculate, everything in its place.
“Ramonu is probably having tea with Ardan again,” I said under my breath, amused.
Too tired to think much further, I loosened my tie, slipped off my coat, and let myself fall onto the sofa with the weariness of a man who had carried the world on his shoulders for far too long.
I closed my eyes, ready to surrender to the quiet.
And then...
Something soft brushed against me.
Warm.
Delicate.
A touch so light it was almost unreal, like silk gliding over skin. Slender fingers traced my cheek with feather-soft affection, slow and tender, as if savoring the shape of my face after far too long apart.
Then came the scent.
Sweet and elegant. Familiar. A fragrance I knew better than my own breath.
My heart stilled.
There was only one person in this world who carried such a presence.
“Ramonu…”
I tried to turn, but a gentle hand stopped me. Her touch lingered against my jaw, guiding me back as she leaned close, her breath warm against my ear.
Then, in that honeyed voice... soft, sweet, and devastatingly beautiful... she whispered:
“Ara ara… do you have any idea how long you made this lovely lady wait?”
Her arms slipped around me from behind, holding me close, possessive and warm, as if she had no intention of ever letting me go again.
“I’ve been waiting so patiently,” she murmured, her voice velvet against my skin. “Waiting to be loved properly. Waiting to be adored the way only my dear husband can.”
My breath caught in my throat.
Even after two years, she still had the power to unravel me with a single whisper.
I let out a quiet, helpless laugh and rested my hand over hers.
“I’m sorry, my love,” I said softly. “For making the only woman my heart belongs to wait so long.”
There was a pause.
Then I felt her smile against my skin.
“Oh?” she hummed, amused. “And what shall I do with such a terribly neglectful husband?”
I turned my head just enough to catch the teasing glimmer in her eyes.
“That,” I said, smiling despite myself, “is entirely up to you.”
Her lips curved, pleased.
“Ara ara… how obedient.”
Her fingers slid slowly down the front of my chest, deliberate and teasing, until they came to rest just above my heart. Then she leaned in and pressed a soft kiss to the corner of my lips...sweet, slow, and far too brief.
When she pulled away, her gaze lingered on mine, warm and possessive.
“You’ve been gone for far too long,” Ramonu whispered, her voice softer now, more tender than teasing.
Then she cupped my face in her hands and smiled... the kind of smile that made every mile, every sleepless night, every aching second apart feel worth enduring.
“So tonight,” she said, her lips brushing mine once more, “you are mine.”
And in her arms, at long last, I was finally home.
