I know this is odd, but I am helping arrange food for a l choir group that will be touring through Preston in June. For one of the lunches they want to get some takeout at the Preston-Fishergate KFC. The weird thing is that you cannot get the KFC app for the UK in the USA so I cannot look at the prices. Would anyone be willing to take some screen shots in the KFC app of some combo boxes for me so I can get an idea of prices? I called the location but they told me to just look at the app (I don’t think they realized about this little problem of not being in the UK). I asked my daughter who is elsewhere in Europe to see if she could get it and she has the same problem. Thanks! Looking forward to visiting your area soon!

Hi Kids!

I'm looking for recommendations around local book clubs - is there any? I have a very specific genre that I stick too (Horror Mainly, some Fantasy) and maybe thats holding me back alittle but I am not finding any local book club meets that are currently active online in and around Preston City centre?

Ebb and Flo in Chorley have a social, but I'm not really able to do distances (i know its not far but.. unfortunately, no can do.. as much as i would love too) and I know Chews Yard did have one? But im not seeing anything about an upcoming date or anything

Just wondering if I missed anything or if I am going to have to make it my life's new mission to start a new book club 😂❤️

Thanks in advance!

Trying to find a room but coming across scams…

I’m mid-20’s, just finished my master’s and moving to Preston. I’m looking to rent a room, and I had two viewings set up through SpareRoom for tomorrow after work.

One was for a room that had ‘female roommates only’ in the title, which made sense since the ad said just one person lived there alone, a woman. I asked to have a call this evening to confirm the woman I was talking to was who she said as I’ve had a bad experience before.

She delayed a bit, then agreed to a call. The person who ended up ringing me was a man, and when I asked where the woman I’d been talking to was, he said she was his wife and asked if I wanted to talk to her. I hung up 😭

The person with the second viewing got cagey when I asked them to confirm who they were or show me any more pictures/videos of the place than on the ad (even though they said they currently live there & were at home).

So I’m a bit stuck. Is SpareRoom not the best place to find a room in Preston? Any recommendations of where to look?

Looking to connect in Preston :)

Hi everyone

I

Moved to Preston a few years ago and still haven’t really made many friends here. It's quite difficult as an adult 😱Looking to meet new people and make genuine friendships :)

I’m into gaming, sports, Muay Thai, hiking, and I’m a big foodie too. Always down for good conversations, training, trying new food spots, or just chilling.

Drop me a message if you’re local and wanna connect :)

Is there anywhere to have a nice lie down in nature, that is easy to get to and has loos nearby?

Last year I went to Stanley House Spa and they had a little garden bit where you sat on a lounger and it overlooked some nice fields, is there anywhere similar I can go in Preston? Bonus points for:

- Can get to via public transport / walking (I don't drive)

- Toilets nearby

I don't mind if it is in actual nature or a beer garden/cafe etc. I just wanted it to be somewhere you could close your eyes or read, rather than for socialsing

Looking to celebrate an achievement with some friends. Asked around on the high street and couldn't find anywhere for the life of me.

Its twice in a row now that they havn't been emptied, both our street and the next street over. We complained two week ago and they did nothing about it.

Two floors of the Supreme Fashion Clothing warehouse on Southgate burned out last night around 3am.

Fire brigade can’t establish a cause yet.

Artsy social groups/other creatives in Preston?

Hi everyone,

i know there are a lot of these types of posts going around, but I just wanted to put the feelers out to see if there are any art/creative hobby related groups going on in Preston that I'm currently unaware of. I’m not big on socials and understand a lot of this kind of thing may be advertised there and I'm missing it as a result.

I’m a creative person - in particular trying to get back into a routine with drawing/painting, but i also crochet and am learning to sew (very slowly).

i would also really love to learn how to make pottery in the future if anyone has recommendations of a good place to start out with that locally as its quite an involved hobby.

All this to say, it tends to be quite a solitary set of hobbies to have and i would love to feel more part of a community and meet like-minded people in real life. Adulting can be lonely when you have mostly solitary hobbies and i also think meeting other creative people might give me some incentive to stop procrastinating my projects, and to try new things.

so if anyone can point me in any kind of direction, or a fellow creative person sees this and wants to reach out - i’d be more than happy :)

Cheers guys!

Any good places to watch Eurovision this weekend?

Hi all, as the title says, looking for somewhere showing Eurovision around Penwortham or Preston this weekend. Looking for somewhere to sit with a bit of atmosphere. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Fellow Prestonions, I didn't realise how bad it was.

206 rainy days a year
8th worst place for weather
Truly justified to moan about the weather

Makes it even more sweet when it's like it is this morning tho.

If you want to feel more validated, compare with other uk cities / towns https://right-to-complain.co.uk/
