Off Campus Housing

Hi I got accepted into the MS IXD program starting this fall

Does anyone have any leads on or recommendations for off campus housing

- which areas

- who to contact (they did share a few resources)

And is there a group of accepted students that I could join? Would love to make friends and find roommates!

Thanks:)

Dorms

Hi guys, Pratt says online that their freshmen dorms are furnished with a microwave/fridge unit. Is that true, is it in every room, or like a joint building area? Is it different if you have a suite? And do suites have a “common room” or is it just two join bedrooms by a bathroom? Thank you!

Calarts or Pratt?

Hey guys,

I got admit from calarts(film/video) and pratt(3d animation and motion arts) for MFA. I understand those 2 are different programs but I could use some honest perspective on the 3d animation program.

I’m an international student and have worked in motion graphics and editing field, although I have zero knowledge of 3d animation pipeline.

So just wanted to know,

Will the Pratt course be too overwhelming if I'm starting 3D from scratch? Or does it actually teach you how to direct using these tools?

Also, what’s the industry vibe with AI right now?

I am a bit confused between the two programs so any advice from current students or alumni would be helpful.

Workload, social life, $?

Got into Pratt with 100k scholarship as a low income highschooler. As much as I LOVE Brooklyn and the city, I’m having my doubts mainly because I’m concerned about workload (I have ADHD) and the social environment. Do people go out often and is it welcoming for people that don’t have the most privileged background? Do I have to take out student loans?

I’ll also major in either Painting or Art/Design Education.

Thoughts on Pratt SOA? (School of Architecture)

I was accepted into the graduate program for architecture at Pratt with a decent scholarship but will still have to pay a lump sum if not given more.

What's your opinion on the curriculum and the opportunities? Was it hard to make friends? I'm a New Orleans a native potentially living in the North/New York for the first time so all knowledge is helpful! Tulane also offered me a great scholarship so its either Pratt or Tulane.

How is Pratt Art History/ History of Art and Design?

Hi! I recently was admitted to the History of Art and Design Masters program and I was wondering how the art history program is overall? I have a professor there who matches my research interests, and I'm partially funded. I just want to hear directly from students about the program :). Any insight is appreciated as I'm on the waitlist for another school and if I get in, i want to get a better idea of what i'm choosing between. Thank You!
