This app will charge you 99 buckaroos if you don't cancel before your trial so be really careful. I tried it today for thirty minutes as a B2 level German tutor. This is just a ChatGPT wrapper with an okay AI voice. The guy apparently comes from Hawaii but says "Aloha" like he's a robot so it's very very funny.

The app broke down after ten minutes of use and wasn't able to maintain a conversation at that level uninterrupted. There were many pauses and stutters and even restarting the app didn't fix it so useability is an issue.

More worrying is that randomly through the speech the AI tutor inserted random Arabic words and pronunciations that had nothing to do with the German conversation we were having.

Not worth the money or time at higher levels.

I’ve been thinking about pronunciation lately and how it’s often the hardest part of learning a language, even when grammar and vocabulary are already strong. With the new pronunciation tracking feature, I’m curious if people feel more aware of their mistakes over time or if it just takes a lot of consistency before you notice improvement. For those who are using it do you feel like it actually helps you improve, or is it more useful for awareness and feedback?

Always looking for that motivation factor, because weirdly, that's what keeps me moving.

Could be something small. Could be that someone made a comment, or you heard a song, or you just woke up one day and felt ready again.
What brought you back?

A lot of our users tell us that AI practice helped them get over the fear of sounding stupid before they felt good and ready to talk to native speakers. Others prefer to have a real human, despite that fear.
Which one is it for you and why?

Is it worth learning the local language well if you can already function in English at work?

The dreaded "expat" community, where local languages go to die. Do you prefer to learn your local language or keep it within your comfort zone?
