151 is not an overrated set

Everyone keeps saying 151 is overrated to me. What most people don’t get is that without 151 a lot of people wouldn’t come back to the hobby…

I have nothing against other sets like destined rivals or prismatic but I think people forget 151 restarted the hobby….

What do you do with your extra pokémon cards?

Hi Card Collectors!

I’m doing a study on Pokémon Bulk Cards and am looking to understand a collector’s thought process when trying to offload them. I’ve seen a few options out there (i.e. Sell bundles on marketplaces, donations, etc.) but I’m trying to determine at what point do the bulk cards begin becoming a problem for you.

Based on a Reddit Post Hunt, the second most common option for managing their own bulk was to organise and store the cards.

Knowing this made me wonder, what’s the breaking point to go out of your way to get rid of them? What might the friction be as to why one wouldn’t do it earlier if the end result is to get rid of them anyway?

FUN FACT: The most popular option was to donate them to clinical centres, libraries and schools for the kids to enjoy the hobby which was so wholesome to see!

Do you have a lot of bulk Pokémon cards? If so, I’ve made a small Google Form that focuses on the quantity of cards you have and how it may affect your card collecting experience.

Feel free to comment or DM me if you're interested in helping with the study and I can send you the Google Forms Link!

If it is easier for you, I’d love for you to simply leave a comment on how many cards you have what you do to offload your spare cards and why that method is effective for you 🙂 (bonus question: Is there a reason as to why you don't choose the other options?)

Thanks in advance!

Is this a good way to store expensive cards?

Just recently switching from toploader binder to double sleeve with perfect fit into a vaultx. Mainly doing it for enjoyment and a master set. The toploader binder was annoying to carry around shows and didn’t look visually appealing because of how much it was scuffed up and dulled the cards. I do have a lot of expensive singles though and was wondering if this long term is a good way to store my cards

New to Pokemon collecting looking for YouTuber to watch

I have just gotten back into collecting cards since my son showed some interest in it. I only used to collect back in the late 90's early 2000. I was looking to try and find a YouTuber that rips packs and goes to card shows/ shops to watch with my son in our spare time and help us learn some stuff along the way. Any suggestions?

New collector here just paranoid.

Hello I’ve recently gotten into collecting full arts, I ordered a bunch from eBay and TCG player. All sellers have good reviews. Even sellers with only 60 sales had 100% reviews. I’m still paranoid about getting fakes or something only spent 5-30$ on each single card not in bulk. Am I being overly paranoid? And should I only question the authenticity if somethings off? Thank you :)

Whatnot scammer swapping cards

If you use whatnot , please be careful from this seller. Swapped out my misprint because I paid three dollars for it. The a****** sent a japenese version in the same art instead. Package also came back completely damaged with to the cards bent. Since I can't give a review on there because he blocked me.I want to make sure people know about this garbage can of a person. Usually I know who to stay away from when I'm on the app But got me this time.

This right here...is what makes me happy 😊

Just another good mail day! The only card I question here is the Hitmonchan. They were all supposed to be LP but I think its more MP. Other than that I think they all look great! Looking forward to adding them to the binder!

Pulled a chase card out of a 3 pack blister

Got home from the bar and decided to open a three pack blister of journey. I got from Best Buy a couple of weeks ago. Last pack magic

Pokémon should sell IRs and SIRs directly.

There is so much waste. Just sell packs of five cards. Then everyone will complete their collection or get what they want faster. On to the next expansion.

A question about current collecting environment

Do this thought experiment with me:

4 people buy 3 ETBs each.

First person takes them home and burns them.

Second person takes them home and puts them on FBMP for 35% more than what they paid. If they sell all of them they'll make back the cost of 1 ETB.

Third person takes them home and opens them with their family. They get maybe 1 X sir and 3 ex cards and a Holo energy. They sell the sir trainer and make back the cost of 1 ETB.

Fourth person takes them home and puts them in a cupboard for 8 years. After that time, each ETB sells for approx 3600% of it's original retail.

In 3 scenarios after purchase, that product is no longer available in the current print window. The person reselling (and the buyer because there are two sides to a transaction) has put the product back into rotation. The person who ripped and the person who burns the ETBs have destroyed the product but the people who ripped them also put a card from the set into rotation on the marketplace.

Is there any tangible difference in any of these scenarios? Product is purchased. Product is altered/deleted/recirculated.
