Hello,

We hired a GC for a fixed price contract.

The the delays have been unreasonable and now 4x as long as quoted.

Now we find out the sub trades are not paid and is most likely the cause of delays.

Is there any recourse or am I screwed? We feel at the mercy of these guys who have done a terrible job of managing the project.

I feel these guys will either string me along use funds from other projects to make enough of a payment to the sub trades so they will continue working. They most likely used my funds to pay for other projects as well.

This has been a cause of undue stress on my family as we are also renting mont to month and only budgeted for so much time out of the house.

This seems borderline illegal and truly unfair as we saved money to do this renovation to help our family

It’s also truly frustrating to see their instagram framing their company as family oriented and all positive with happy clients.

We feel like suckers

We are in Vancouver Canada.

Advice appreciated.

UPDATE:

Things have gone sideways since we brought up our concerns with the GC. Now they are just gaslighting us and saying that none of our comments are true. They say the subs are lying to us as they don’t want to come back to fix deficiencies. More BS. I had numerous requests for the name of the company so at this point screw it.

Be cautious to not make the same mistakes I did in believing them and their beautiful curated instagram profile.

🚩Townhouses for sale?

Hi everyone! My husband and I are looking to move to Pitt Meadows from Langley.
We've noticed quite a few townhouses for sale in the Hammond Road area recently. As an outsider, seeing a bunch of units for sale at once always makes me a bit nervous.

Our realtor told us that it’s just a coincidence which is hard to believe.

As a local resident, are there any red flags? 🚩

This is a throw away account and was empowered to share my experience here after exchanging DMs with the other poor person dealing with Mark or Greg from Norum Construction.

My name is Alex.

Im a hard worker mid 30s guy, common sense and a good people person who enjoys outdoor activities.

Interested in joining the parks in the city or BC Parks too.

10 year forklift driver/warehouse and brewery experience but it doesn't pay very well. warehouse work is pretty dull now, and never a change of scenery. Just driving back and forth all day loading a truck is not interesting.

I need to get some new skills that pays better.

I have applied to some jobs but maybe I dont match the skills that others have for city work. Im sure lots are applying.

Open to Coquitlam to langley areas. Nice to keep a commute low.

Is it Worth taking a course on parks and sports fields maintenance with RFABC?

Take a BCIT course?

or go get some landscaping experience?

I would even offer some volunteer hours if thats possible if anyone knows someone.

Fire last night

Anyone wake up around 2:30 to the smell of smoke? I heard a lot of sirens, firetrucks. Just wondering if there was a fire close by last night?

Parking at EME

I see by letter from the city that the Parking regulations on Bonson around Edith McDermott are changing and that there will be more enforcement. I hadn’t realized so many people were complaining. It will be interesting to see whether they actually do everything that they are saying that they will do. In any case did anybody else around Edith McDermott get the letter and thoughts?
