First week expectations

Hi! I started phetermine 37.5 mg on Friday 5/1 so I’m on day 4 and have lost 3 lbs the first day and now at a stall. I know my expectations are high but I’ve seen a lot of people say they lost 8-10 lbs first week. Did anyone have a stall after the first day and then lose again towards the end of week? For reference I’m female, starting weight (before the drop) was 212 and 5 ft 4.

Thx!!!

Nausea

I started taking phentermine on Saturday 5/2. The first day I didn't have any adverse side effects, but yesterday any time I ate I was extremely nauseous. I bought some dramamine and that did not help at all. Just wondering if there are any tips on combating the nausea because it is really not that bad once I get through it but I did wake up today feeling gross too. I know some medications are better with certain kinds of foods? I am wondering if thats the case with this. I've asked my dr to refer me to a nutritionist to help me along the way but in the meantime im trying to stay vertical and not have to lay down multiple times a day.

What’s next?

My Dr said I can only be on Phen for another month then I will have to stop even though I am tolerating it well and only on 16mg. I asked if I stop for a month can I go back on because I am noticing a plateau of weight loss right now and she said no, so then what? I don’t want to do GLP1 because I don’t want to deal with the stomach issues/side effects people talk about oh yeah and my insurance won’t cover so I’m not paying for it out of pocket. Also I really like taking the phentermine it actually turns up my ocd just enough I get a lot accomplished and I feel great taking it, I’m not mad about my weight loss progress 25 lbs since Feb and I’ve been recovering from leg surgery so my activity is super low anyway. But I was hoping to stay on it longer as long as there were no adverse effects, I have changed my eating habits and calorie consumption a lot so I know if I keep that up it will help but I already feel like I’m going to struggle with the food noise part I do also take 50mg of topiramate and I know this helps with food noise as well and is not regulated like the phentermine does anyone just take topiramate and have success? What are my other options?

Anyone else experiencing abnormally high blood pressure?

Hi guys. I’ve been on phentermine for about 4 months now. lost over 40 lbs and am very happy with the medication overall. however, every time i go to the doctor now, my blood pressure is extremely high. at first i thought maybe i was nervous about being at the doctor, but upon checking my blood pressure outside of the doctor i noticed it was still very high. both numbers in the triple digits. i’ve had extremely healthy blood pressure all my life until now. i’m 22f and currently 195 lbs and even at my heaviest (231) my blood pressure was extremely healthy/normal. has anyone else experienced this? and if so, what do you do about it? i’d hate to stop taking it this early. i’ve made so much progress already.

Phent vs topa

My Dr told me she wants me to be on either phentermine or topamax for the next year or so for maintenance. I’m wondering what the better option would be to help me continue to lose weight bc I’m not exactly where I want to be, I’m about 10lbs out. The phentermine has been causing crazy hair loss & I also sometimes get headaches. But I love that it helps me get things done. Idrk what the topamax helps out with tbh lol. My cravings are definitely curved but I’m wondering if that’s bc they’re working together or can one or the other suppress my appetite just as well as it has been?

Do I stop phentermine?

Hello phentermine community 🫶

I need advice, maybe specifically those on phentermine and Wellbutrin.

So, in February 2024 I started my weightloss journey at 275lbs (5’0 female and 18 at the time). Growing up weight was always a struggle due to poor mental health and binge eating. I mean, I’d lie about if I ate before dinner so I could have a second dinner. I’ve eaten so much to the point of throwing up, just because i genuinely couldn’t stop myself.

By July of 2025 I was just getting to the 200lb mark. I got with my primary doctor and she had me try phentermine and Wellbutrin.

Found out in November 2025 I have a bad vitamin B12 and D deficiency, so I also began taking vitamins.

In January of 2026 I went from 15mg to 30mg of phentermine since I felt the effects wearing off, but not to the point of binge eating and stuff. I was scared of having all the food noises back so I didn’t really give it time to fully wear off.

Now, may 2026 I’m starting to feel that wear off again.

I want to say that this Wellbutrin has CHANGED MY LIFE! I don’t want to k-word myself just bc I need to wake up or fold laundry 🤣

Regardless, I can’t tell if the phentermine has already been worn off or not, because with the Wellbutrin maybe the lack of depression and the fact it helps with binge eating disorder is very helpful. I’m too scared to test it by stopping phentermine due to food noise, but I know I need to stop soon anyways (I’m at 138lbs now, which is close to my goal.)

My doctor said when I am done taking phentermine, she will prescribe me a med (can’t remember the name) that helps with ADHD and binge eating. She said it’ll help with the food noise without the intense effects phentermine has on appetite suppressing overall.

Any advice??? I’m not sure if my experience/situation is too niche to hear similar things.
