When I was pregnant a few years ago, I had severe ‘morning’ sickness for 6months. I lost weight, I wasn’t keeping water down for days at a time, and I literally thought I was going to die. I had already switched my provider after being written off while I was experiencing a miscarriage, so I didn’t have the energy to switch again.

I can’t tell you how many times the severity of my sickness was not taken seriously. I was given zofran and some other medication, which did nothing for me. I went into an urgent care for fluids after a particularly horrendous week, and was turned down because I would “just pee it back out”.

I was often told that they couldn’t do anything for me unless my urine was tea colored, or if the color in my nail beds wouldn’t return after pressing on them.
I felt so helpless and hopeless for majority of my pregnancy. Now, my husband and I are planning to have another baby and I have so much anxiety regarding the care team I choose. I can’t go through that again and I’m so scared.

Does anyone know of a validating, caring, and understanding OB? I don’t know of these issues are strictly related to UH or Cleveland Clinic, or if I just happened to see some of the worst doctors within those facilities.
