Vote in mock Governor's election using Ranked Choice Voting!

Hi, Voters!

Please take a moment and vote in our Ventura County-wide mock Governor's election using RCV!

A traditional election requires you to choose a single candidate and hope for the best. In a crowded field, as in this year's election, voters have to choose between voting for candidates they believe in and voting for those they think are likely to survive the primary and advance to the general. Vote splitting is on everyone's mind, and voters, Democrat and Republican alike, are struggling to choose which candidate to support in hopes that their choice makes the final two.

And, of course, Independent and Third-Party candidates are entirely left out of the process and labeled as a "throw-away" vote. (Sorry, largest block of voters who are registered as Independents. No soup for you!)

With Ranked Choice Voting, we could eliminate primaries and two-round runoff formats altogether and have a single, high-turnout November election with many candidates from across the political spectrum. Voters could vote for their preference, and constituents would get consensus winners.

No more strategic voting, no more vote splitting, no more lesser of two evils.

All candidates in this election are still in the race and were polling at or above 1% support in recent polls.

Have fun! Results will be released after the polls close on June 2nd!

If you haven’t heard, the tennis courts at Camino Real Park have been closed indefinitely after inspection due to poor conditions. (City of Ventura)
These courts have been a huge part of the local tennis community for years — lessons, leagues, pickup matches, everything. Losing them is a big hit.
A friend put together a quick page to push for action from the City Council. It takes literally 30 seconds to support:
What you can do:
Sign the page
Send a quick email to City Council (even 2–3 sentences helps)
Share with anyone who plays tennis or uses Ventura parks
The city is already discussing park improvements and court replacements, so now is actually the time to speak up. (City of Ventura)
If enough people make noise, this doesn’t get pushed to the bottom of the list.
Let’s get these courts fixed and back open 🙌🎾

Fireworks in my neighborhood

Maybe this isn’t the best place to vent. I’m just tired of people who think we all want to hear your loud obnoxious fireworks. I live off west Gonzales and it’s all I can afford at the moment. I wish I could move cause people just aren’t considerate of their neighbor’s. It’s Sunday night at midnight and those are extremely loud. This isn’t Fourth of July and even if it was it’s not acceptable to light up fireworks like that. I’d prefer not to have an artillery shell like firework over my head. I hope if this person is on the sub to see this and start being considerate of others. Then again they probably won’t. I’ve lived in Ventura county 98 percent of my life and I’ve never lived near such inconsiderate people who have zero class. I mind my own business but if you’re doing stuff to affect my everyday life and peace then I’m gonna vent about it. I’ve been dealing with this for the last two months as well.

"Ventura County residents are being warned about a recent increase in catalytic converter thefts across the county.

'In the past few months, there have been over 50 reported thefts of catalytic converters in most cities and various unincorporated areas within the county,' the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office said in a Community Alert issued Wednesday.

Most of the thefts have occurred during the late-night and early-morning hours, often targeting vehicles parked on streets and in driveways, officials said.

Surveillance footage has revealed the following information to investigators:

- Suspects typically work in pairs or small groups

- They often use two vehicles

- The thefts are carried out in less than two minutes

- Suspects acting as lookouts may be armed

'Due to the potential risk, citizens are urged not to approach or confront the suspects,' the Sheriff’s Office said.

Anyone who sees suspicious activity is urged to report it by calling 911 or by contacting their local law enforcement agency’s non-emergency number, depending on the urgency of the situation.

Residents are encouraged to take the following steps to reduce the risk of becoming a victim:

- Remain aware of your surroundings

- Park vehicles in well-lit areas or inside a garage when possible

- Install motion-activated lighting and security cameras

- Consider installing a catalytic converter anti-theft device

- Etch your vehicle identification number, VIN, onto the converter

- Activate vehicle alarms

Anyone with information about the recent thefts is asked to call the Ventura County Organized Retail Theft Task Force’s recorded tip line at 805-383-8703. Tips may also be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477." - KTLA 5 News

Hello,

I am currently in the process of setting up a weekly pickup baseball league for all ages and coed from a league originating in San Francisco called mission baseball. The goal of this league is to bring people together to play 9 innings of baseball just for love of the game, while in college I had the privilege of watching people regain the love they have for the sport from all ages and even had a guy in his late 70's playing! This style of play have now grown to LA, New York, and Chicago and feel it would be a great add to our area as well. I am currently getting a head count so that I could start renting fields so if you or would know anyone interested in a no stress 9 inning game of baseball, here is a google forms link to sign up!

For Rule 6: Disclaimer I am not selling anything this is just a weekly event.

To the MAGA dude in the big black truck repeatedly driving by the May Day event at the County Government Center gunning his engine and blowing black smoke at the people. I'm not going to talk about the tiny size of your penis, or the un-Christian behavior, or just how pathetic you are. I just want you to know that you were not only blowing black smoke into the faces of elderly people, you were also blowing smoke into the faces of small children and babies in strollers who were also at the event. This was a peaceful event that included families with children and babies. That's who you are though. A pathetic loser. I'm sure you or your MAGA friends will laugh and call me a libtard. But that will only further show what pathetic trash you are. A pathetic man blowing black smoke into the faces of small children, babies and the elderly.

"The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office announced two suspects were arrested in connection to a string of burglaries targeting computers on Freightliner trucks in the El Rio area.

Detectives reportedly began investigating a group of individuals targeting the trucks during the month of April 2026.

The suspects would reportedly approach the vehicles during the nighttime hours, break a window to gain entry, then steal the onboard Common Powertrain Controller (CPC) computers before fleeing.

The computers are essential for vehicle operation and cost $3,300 to replace, according to the sheriff’s office. Victims were unable to use their trucks until they had replacements installed.

Similar crimes had reportedly occurred in neighboring Oxnard and Simi Valley. Following an investigation, detectives identified the suspects as 46-year-old Lenin Leyva and 39-year-old Ryann McMurtrey of Los Angeles.

Detectives conducted a traffic stop with the Fillmore Police Department on McMurtrey’s vehicle on April 29 in the 1400 block of East Harvard Boulevard in Santa Paula.

Stolen CPC computers were recovered during a search of the vehicle, which was also seized as evidence, the sheriff said.

Leyva and McMurtrey were booked into the Ventura County Main Jail on charges of grand theft, burglary and vandalism. They’re being held in lieu of bail.

Leyva is also reportedly currently on Post Release Community Supervision for a prior burglary conviction out of Los Angeles County." - KTLA 5 News
