How was abyss ?

as a long standing follower of reef and Darwin, I can’t help but wonder: how was the first edition of abyss?

how was the vibration thing?

how was the crowd ?

I feel like abyss can be the future of raving for me.

✨✨✨🐬

Edit: can we pledge daytime raves please

Went to OG last Thursday (30/04) and I now understand all the rumors about the venue. The club, the soundsystem, the crew, everything delivered. Had an amazing night overall.

One thing did stand out though. During the ~1 hour intro by Rodhad and Fadi (which was phenomenal), it felt like a big chunk of the crowd ~40% was just talking over it. It kind of killed the immersion at times and made it hard to fully take in the set.

Not sure if I’m overthinking it, if this is just “a thing” at OG, or if the acoustics somehow amplify even quiet conversations?

Curious if others have noticed this.

Either way, great club. Will definitely be back.

Hi! I’ve been to Open Ground a couple of times so I was very curious to hear how they improved the sound at Freifeld. Doubling the Evo 6E and Evo 6EL definitely delivered as I could hear the high frequenties no matter where I stood in the room. It was interesting to see that in the right corner they kept the pair of F132’s and on the left they replaced the old F132’s with three F221’s. This meant that I could directly compare the performance of these subs for the first time ever.

I’ve always loved how the F132’s delivered on the low frequencies as it an experience like no other. Especially because the room is accoustically treated to perfection. However, I noticed during the night that for the longer periods of time I preferred standing in front of the F221’s as these were not necessarily “overwhelming”. The low ends were perhaps not as “punchy” as I would like it to be but overall I really enjoyed the experience from that corner. I was suprised to come to this conclusion as I’ve always stood in front of the F132’s the past clubnights.

I assume the perfect sweetspot would be in the middle where the frequenties of these two systems meet, however, it was always so crowded there that I didn’t bother going and preferred the back where there is usually more space.

Mind you I’m no audio engineer so this comes solely from the perspective of a “sound enthousiast”. I’m very curious to hear other people’s perspective on how this dynamic influences the place you prefer to stand! :)

Edit: turns out the subs on the left were always F221’s. They’ve added third one.
