Passes my G at Toronto Metro East

I'm so happy and I rarely feel proud of myself but I really do with this. I have now passed all of my tests on my first try at Toronto Metro East. I officially passed my G today ! I was told by so many to not do it there but I felt like I had something I needed to prove to myself. I wanted to know I could do it and I did!

7 charged in alleged GTA driver exam bribery scheme

Seven people have been arrested after an Ontario Provincial Police-led (OPP) investigation uncovered alleged fraudulent activity related to G-test driver examinations in the Greater Toronto Area.

In September 2024, the OPP launched an investigation into suspected irregularities during driver examinations for G licences in Ontario, the police force said in a news release.

According to the OPP’s Serious Fraud Office, it examined allegations that bribes were exchanged for “favourable consideration” during the testing of specific applicants.

Seven people were arrested as a result of the probe.

They are Farhad Sanders, 43, of Maple, Ont.; Abdulkarim Afrayim Sava, 65, of Brampton; Ahmed Ismail Ghanchi, 44; Michelle Miceli, 49; and Shanna Marie Tozer, 43, all of Toronto; and Elizabeth Taylor, 50, of Mississauga.

Police said the accused face a combined total of 25 charges, including conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, breach of trust, money laundering, and secret commissions.

The accused were all released from police custody and are expected to appear in court later this week.

Question About Right Turn on Red

Hello!

I had a situation yesterday that scared me a little, and I'm just trying to wrap my head around it a little better. I talked to some friends and family who took my side but I don't trust that they're speaking from a neutral POV.

This situation occurred at an intersection between a side street and Steeles Avenue. I pulled up to the red light and stopped, checked for pedestrians and creeped forward a little. I noticed that in the RIGHT lane from oncoming traffic, a bus pulled over and was letting passengers in/out. In my head, I saw this as an opportunity to quickly turn into the right lane.

However, a car passed the bus and then immediately moved into the right lane in the middle of the intersection. He blared his horn at me (understandable). There's a sort of shoulder, so I pulled my car as far right as possible to give way. He tailgated me for a bit and then sped away.

My thought process is; he made an unsafe lane change in the middle of an intersection (not allowed). I will absolutely consider this possibility and not use the bus as an indicator that it is safe to turn again. However, since I was at a red light, would I also be considered at fault here? Because generally, turning right on a red should only be done when safe. From a defensive driving perspective, I'm absolutely wrong I think, idk!

G test parking

My friend said he was asked to reverse park when he returned to the test centre. However, I thought parking was removed off G test examinations?

Had anybody else been asked to reverse park for their G test?

I am not the best reverse parker, so this has made me a bit nervous.

If I am asked to reversed park am I allowed to ask if I can forward park instead (since I don’t believe it’s apart of the marking sheet)?

Full G Drivetest with a rental car

Hi everyone!
I’m planning to take my full G road test, but I don’t have a car at the moment. Can I use a rental car for the test if I already have a G2 licence? Also, do rental companies like Enterprise Rent-A-Car or Hertz rent cars to drivers with a G2 licence?

Which location is the best for G2 Testing?

Hi all!! I’m going to hopefully get my g2 license soon. I have 2 options for locations: Toronto Port Union or Newmarket. Which in your opinion is more easier? Easier meaning that the examiner is a little more lenient. My father tells me to go to Port Union because his friend whos an instructor also says port union is better. My friends yell at me saying not to go to Port Union, and that its easier to pass in Newmarket. Please tell me what I should do!!

G2 test in Mississauga

I have my G2 test in Mississauga on Thursday and I am pretty nervous. I have been driving in Pakistan for 10 years but ofcourse the rules weren't enforced. I am nervous that I am going to make a mistake that would fail me plus I have heard that examiners are a little stern. I am worried about changing lanes (no habit of shoulder check), missing pedestrian checks, and parking in particular. I have been practicing for a while as well. Please share some tips.

Thoughts on doing my G in my semi built car.

I have 2 mk6 jettas a 2013 2.0 (not currently safetied) and this my 2016 1.8t which ive done somethings to: Catback exhaust, upgraded turbo inlet and intake, and the headlights. Im wondering if there will be any bias towards me as a young male driver in my "decked out" ride. I know they can't refuse me as everything (except the tint) meets the DOT legal requirements, it's just more noisy than your typical economy car.

My G1 expires exactly a year from now and I just got my G2

I believe I cannot take the G test until a year from getting my G2. Does this mean I have 1 chance to clear my G? And if I don’t I’ll go back to G1 and will have to take my G2 again???

Driving School Recommendations for G2

Just passed my Ontario G1 this morning (38/40)!! and now I’m trying to decide which driving school to choose for my G2.

Right now I’m looking at:

  • Kruzee
  • Triumph Academy
  • All Star Driving School

Are there any other schools with reasonable pricing that I should consider?

I live in Toronto(York) area and mainly care about patient/good instructors, good experience for nervous drivers and lots of lesson availability/openings during the summer.

For people who’ve used these schools recently, Which one did you choose? What was your experience like? Would you recommend them?

Any instructors or locations I should specifically ask for or avoid?

Would really appreciate honest opinions before I commit. Thanks!

Failed G test in Burlington

I feel really discouraged today after my G test. I had practiced for months and passed my G2 perfectly two years ago, so I truly thought I was ready. The test started well, but on the first highway ramp I reached 100 km/h and tried to merge. A car beside me was going faster, so I told the examiner I would speed up to merge safely.

My anxiety took over, and I accelerated too much—up to 117 km/h. I had never faced that exact situation in training, and I reacted poorly. The examiner said it was a major violation and that I should have slowed down instead. I tried to explain that the gap behind the other car felt too small, but she didn’t agree.

The rest of the test was fine, but that one mistake cost me the pass. I fully accept responsibility, and I’m sharing this so others can learn from it. I really regret how I handled that moment.

Failed G 2nd Time - Oakville Drive test

Hey everyone,

I’m struggling with passing the G test and honestly just need to vent/get some perspective. I’ve been driving for some time now, but I can’t seem to stop making "rookie" mistakes during the actual road test.

My Timeline:

  • Dec 2021: Passed G1
  • May 2022: Failed G2 (1st attempt). Hesitated while turning left at a busy intersection.
  • July 2022: Passed G2.
  • Nov 2025: Failed G (1st attempt). I was turning right into a residential area and stopped when there was no stop sign. Examiner cited me for impeding traffic/predictability.
  • May 2026: Failed G (2nd attempt). This one hurts. I was being "extra" cautious, scanning for pedestrians and traffic while waiting to turn right on red. I was so focused on the scan that I missed the light changing to an advanced green. The bus behind me honked, and it was an instant fail.

The examiners have been nothing but kind, polite, and professional. This isn't a "mean examiner" story. I feel like I’m over-analyzing everything because of the test pressure, which leads to these technical errors that I’d never make in my daily commute. Has anyone else dealt with "test brain" where you over-complicate simple things? Any tips?

How many times did you go on the highway for your G test Ontario

Hello!
For anyone who recently did your G test in the last year, I am curious how many times you went on the highway during the G test?
Thank you!

License expires easiest g2 center

My license expires in a few months, where would be the best place around GTA area to take the G2? Looking for the least grumpy instructors/ easiest testing routes. I haven’t been able to take it till now because I was out of the country for school. I failed my first attempt because the instructor said I was a little too close to the curb after my parallel park. Where would be the best place to raise my chances of passing as much as possible?

Edit : I believe in doing the test where you drive, but under the circumstances ie if I don’t pass I’ll have to restart and won’t be able to for a while due to going back to school. I want to limit external variables such as grumpy ass instructors and terrible routes.

How much can I go below and above the speed limit?

So, I am taking my G2 test for the first time in Oshawa, and I was wondering about the speed limit. I know for school zones, it has to be the exact speed limit, but I am curious about the normal roads.

I have noticed that I usually drive around 48 to 49 or 51 to 53 in a 50 zone. But sometimes, it also drops to 47 😭 Like I usually drive below the speed limit.

So, my questions are: If I consistently keep changing speed like this, would it count as a mistake? And what is the maximum and minimum speed I can go in a 50 zone? Also, if anyone recently gave their G2 exam in Oshawa, how was it?

Where should I do my G2? (Brampton or Orangeville)

I am torn between the two. I’m taking the test in my instructors car so she needs to book it so we could practice closer to the date. For Brampton im just a little worried about the lane changes as it stresses me out.

Brampton g2 test question!

Do they make you reverse park at all?

I've heard some people say they do/might, and others say they don't.

Also, are we allowed to practice on the actual cones when the drivetest building is closed (since I want an accurate idea of what I'm working with, since I'm taking my jeep to do the test and its obviously a bigger car)

I've only had one lesson from an instructor about 2 days ago but she said I'm a pretty good driver and don't have much to worry about.

Also, any tips are tricks are greatly appreciated! I have my test in about 2/3 weeks!

edit: my test is also at 1:59PM... Is that time okay?

Changing lanes

After doing a left turn, I am aware that you need to automatically go into the right lane (without your examiner telling you).

However, I was wondering can I change into the right lane (when it is safe) even if I’m not at the speed limit yet?
For example, if I turn left and I am at 50km ( and I’m still working my way up to the speed limit which is 60km) can I still change lanes? Or do I need to wait until I hit the speed limit?

G2 Road test in Walkley

Hi guys! I have my road test in 2 days! I have been practicing for my road test with a driving instructor for a while now. I get anxious about D days! I have been seeing tips to wear a baseball cap so the examiner knows I am turning my head. I feel like a cap might obstruct my view (not sure). But I would appreciate any tips and tricks. I also want to know whether I can request a different examiner if I am assigned one. If yes, and if you guys know names of good examiners, that would be great! I am hoping for a nice examiner :)
Thank you very much!!
