Student here... is ONLYOFFICE enough for college work?

Hey..I’m a student trying to avoid paying for the usual download microsoft office setup every year and started testing ONLYOFFICE recently.

Most of my work is:

essays

presentations

shared DOCX files

spreadsheets

Honestly compatibility has been better than I expected so far. I’ve seen a lot of Linux users mention ONLYOFFICE because it handles Microsoft formats better than older free alternatives in some situations. For students using it daily...Do you run into major formatting issues with professors/classmates using Microsoft Office? Any suggestions would be really appreciated!

My first try at using a Ms office doc on onlyoffice didn't go so well

Text was all over the place, none of the fonts were right. This isn't even coming from somewhere where Ms word has been added to, my job doesn't even let us install fonts, let alone having fonts already installed that don't come standard with office, but onlyoffice seemed to think, nope, the are all Arial now.

What am I doing wrong?

Hey guys,

on Linux and trying to settle on one suite for long-term use. I mostly deal with DOCX/PPT files from school/work, so compatibility matters a lot.

ONLYOFFICE:

✔ clean UI

✔ strong DOCX focus

❌ small formatting differences sometimes

WPS Office:

✔ very familiar feel

✔ generally good DOCX compatibility

❌ a bit heavier + occasional quirks

LibreOffice is powerful, but sometimes feels less MS-style in layout.

I’ve noticed none of them are 100% identical to Microsoft Office Download style formatting in real-world files, so I’m trying to figure out what people actually stick with long-term.

what do you personally rely on for daily use??

I could do this on PDFgear where I could create a handwritten signature, flatten it in the PDF and now its part of the PDF. However, I recently read upon some issues with PDFgear and decided to use against it.

Using onlyoffice, is it possible to add a digital signature? I saw tutorials that mention using the signature tab on the ribbon but I am unable to find it. The document I want to sign is one that doesnt have a e-sign field but has a signature field above which I sign it.
