65 Delta 88 Glove box stuck
I bought a '65 Delta 88 a couple years ago, very much a project car, but have never been able to get the glove box open. I can lock and unlock it, push the button to open it, but the latch just doesn't release. Is there a secret to getting them open?
Still a couple more items before it's ready for the road 🙂
Replaced the steering rack, reworked the stock shifter to work better with the 6 speed manual transmission, installed a new in box period correct Audiovox stereo specifically meant for the GM X body, and had to take the fuel tank to the radiator shop and find a spot that was leaking slow enough it didn't actually drip but was leaving a stain trail on the bottom of the tank. Got that fixed and reinstalled.. I still have to deal with bleeding the brakes.
1968 Olds 442 Convertible Restomod
Had to let her sit for about year, due to my work schedule. Started her up a couple of days ago and lots of coolant leaking from various places. I's sending her to my shop to get a bunch of stuff fixed and doing a Holley Terminator X conversion.
Is this thing clapped? Worth buying?
So I lost my TL that I put a lot of blood sweat and tears in. I’m looking for something else but I’m also usually on bullshit so I want something weird. Are 96 cutlass Cierra’s pieces of shit? Mainly leaning away from it because it’s already been touched to the gills but it’s also clearly the sellers “baby”
Genuine question: How good was the Oldsmobile diesel V8 in its last years?
I know how bad this engine was at the start, but for anyone that actually had a later year diesel V8, was it a somewhat decent engine like the Northstar in its later years?
trying to sell my 1998 Olds Aurora!!
(not a for-sale post!! seeking advice)
CALLING ALL COLLECTORS/MECHANICS!! i’ve had this ‘98 aurora since about 2022, She’s been my pride and joy but has officially become too much of a pain to take care of, and won’t be moving with me out of state. i’m not sure where to go or how to find the right crowd to sell to, any tips/tricks/communities i can try?? thought i’d ask the people that actually know things about Oldsmobiles :)
i’m really sad to see this beauty go. i’d love it if she found a new place / person to call home !! any advice is appreciated
208k+ mile 2004 Oldsmobile Alero V6 – Just finished major service and it’s running like new (real OBD before/after data + MPG gains)
Hey r/Oldsmobile,
I own a 2004 Oldsmobile Alero 3.4L V6 sedan with 208,000+ miles and it’s still my daily driver in Whitesboro, TX. I just wrapped up a full service package and the difference is night-and-day. Figured I’d share the before/after OBDLink logs and real-world numbers.
Service summary (April 2026):
- April 10 @ Oil Spot: Full synthetic oil + full synthetic Dex-Cool flush/fill
- April 10–12: Iridium plugs + high-performance wires + Techron
- April 20 mobile: Purge valve (P0440), new gas cap, wheel-speed sensor, trans pan drop + synthetic Dexron-VI, new coolant reservoir cap
Key results from April 17 Donut Choice round-trip (~16.2 miles, intentional driving):
- Trip MPG: 29.5 MPG blended
- Cruise: 35–45+ MPG
- Fuel trims: mostly ±2–4 %
- Misfires: Zero
- Temps all rock-steady
The car idles perfectly, feels smoother, and the tank is barely moving. At 208k this thing is a mileage monster.
Anyone else keeping a high-mileage 3400 V6 alive? What’s your next recommended maintenance at this mileage? Tips for LIM gaskets or trans longevity?
Thanks — love seeing these old Aleros still on the road! Here is a I am lovin it run to McDonalds and using the intentional driving of the power band and mpg ...
Happy Birthday Mom
