Sometimes I consider selling…

Mostly bc it would justify more builds, but I bought this as a frameset and the fit is so dialed that I really don’t want to.

1991 Trek 750

Got out for a little shakedown ride after getting everything put together and of course got a flat 7 miles in.
I tried so many different stem and handlebar combinations before settling on this setup, which I’m loving.
Pretty stock drivetrain (suntour xce) aside from the Ultegra rear derailleur.
Vintage suntour friction barcons
Blue Lug Allroad handlebars
Tektro aero levers
Gravel king 700x43 SS
Brooks saddle
Stock dia compe xce cantilevers which have been a pain bc I don’t have the cone wrench needed to adjust spring tension

Wasn’t really shopping for one. I was building a Trek Antelope 820, but found this randomly. Paid $120 bucks. Not too bad but definitely had to put some labor to get it riding. Maybe a bit overpriced. Btw it didn’t come with the saddle, I had taken it from another one of my bikes

CBD (completed bike day)

I have 4 “projects” at various stages in the basement, but I think I’m gonna call this one “done” (for now). It’s waaaay too big for me (it’s a 23” - I have more along the lines of 17/19” proportions), but I’m so enamored with the color and silver bits, I’m gonna run it until the universe tosses a better fitting one my way.

Marketplace pick up.

This was a mile from my house. Picked it up for $100. Really nice older guy. Started the local bike club in 1973. Rode this bike up and down the c&o canal and the pa grand canyon. We will honor it's legacy and do the same rides. Already started planning the pa grand canyon. This bike is made of carbon and aluminum

Hey I’ve got one these

Street pick up probably around’98. Mostly intact but probably stolen. My last messenger bike. Still have it to this day.

but I want to change to griptape, go 8 or 9 speed, diff seat tube, change friction shifters to something better, eventually change crankset, change brake levers and maybe brakes themselves. Not sure what I think about the handlebars, bullhorns, brooks or pedals. And a bigger frame bag.

Made all the rack attachment points out of aluminium, that took some time. Hope they hold but worried I might’ve made the metal a bit thin on the front rack mid-fork attachments.

but now is rideable and time to take it for an overnighter or two :)

Getting close to finished with my 790 project!
Recently added the SimWorks Getaround bar, changed out the grip shifters for thumbies, replaced all the cables and housing, replaced the tires and swapped out the cranks/chainrings for my preferred 46/36/24 as I hated the 50/40/30 gearing.
Still have to change out the cheap cantis that are on it for the original 500CXs and I have some black bottle cages on the way for it.
So far I’m loving it! Looking forward to putting some miles on it this summer!

Hi all,

I'm getting stuck in my new bike project, and I'm done with ordering the wrong parts.

The following:

I've recently claimed a 1996 Trek Multitrack 750 wich I want to convert from a 3x7 to a 1x7.

I live in the Netherlands where it's completely flat usually only use the middle chainring up front.

I'd like to keep it a 7 speed rear so I won't have to change the back wheel wich is still in good shape.

The current chainrings are worn and up for replacement.

I've ordered the following wrong part crankset cause this one fits too snug on the BB and hits the chains stay.

https://www.amazon.nl/gp/aw/d/B0D839N6T6?psc=1&ref=ppx\_pop\_mob\_b\_asin\_title

My other option would be to keep the crankset wich is on there and order just a narrow wide 7 speed chainring with a 94bcd. (Rare and expensive nowadays) The current crankset is a Shimano fc-mc34.

For example:

https://www.stridsland.com/shop/94-bcd-chainring/

Would I be able to fit a 34 middle chainring mount (will 34 fit with the chain stay?) or even bigger chainring like a 38 or higher if I mount it in the 3th chainring position or will that screw up my chain line?

Are there any other options I can use that will work for me?

I added some Photos for reference.

First 2 are the wrong ordered crankset, all the other are the old crankset with only the old worn 94bcd 32 tooth chainring on it mounted in the middle position.

Thanks for the help all!

It’s been one year since I got this bike and still love it
Mostly Shimano DX with XT cranks, pedals and brakes. Syncros seatpost, stem, bars and steer horns.
Very tight clearance with 45mm tires!
