“The trick is not minding that it hurts.”

This film is monumental, but this quote always had a personal meaning to me like to overcome anything there’s gonna be pain involved. Just don’t let it stop you from doing it.

Potter: Ooh! It damn well hurts!

Lawrence: Certainly it hurts.

Potter: What's the trick then?

Lawrence: The trick, William Potter, is not minding that it hurts.

It happens pretty early on in the movie, in some basement office over in Cairo. Lawrence puts the match out like it's nothing, so Potter tries to do the same thing and ends up burning the hell out of his fingers—which is what leads to that whole "not minding" line. TE Lawrence is like bro don’t be a puss.

Ridley Scott actually threw that same line into Prometheus. There’s a scene where the android, David, is watching the movie and repeats it.
