"Trump needs Rogan more than Rogan needs Trump": Luke Thomas on Trump and the UFC's relationship
youtube.comWhile it's easy to diss the co-hosts, and I have to some degree, I'm now realizinge it's not solely the co-host, it's the method of engagement from Luke's side.
Luke, as the driver of the conversation, rather than the color guy, is the failure point. Luke's charm is responding in an "authentic" manner to real speak from dudes like BC. That is the formula.
When Luke is in charge of the convo, especially poising question, it comes off as fake/too formal in nature. Luke has admitted, and I agree, that interviews are not his forte. With these rotating co-host, he acts like an interviewer rather than a fun discussion. It comes off weird, making the whole vibe weird. For this to work optimally, he needs to hand over the hosting to someone who can drive the entertainment factor.
Many of these recent episodes come off like the Fedor interview of old, "what books are your reading" days. Just my take.
Bitter sweat seeing Bc but glad he doing it big that first pod back gonna be a banger 😮💨 we miss you 🥺
As far as UFC champions go, has there ever been a paradox quite like Sean Strickland?
sports.yahoo.comJimmy Smith is easily one of the most underrated minds in the game. I love Chuck but Jimmy brings a ton of energy and is also just as well versed in discussing boxing as he is ufc. He should be a regular.
Luke Thomas: UFC 328 Khamzat Chimaev vs Sean Strickland live results, live watchalong AND post-fight show.
youtube.com(TL:DR version: I didn't come here to be a creative force, I came to stop users like AriSpaceExplorer and SalsaShark from badgering other users, name calling, bad faith arguments, etc. If you want more creativity in here, do it! I'm not the guy for that and that's not what Reddit Mods are for.)
Earlier this week, we had a few disruptive users complaining about my posting of links in this sub and not being "creative" enough. I got four chats about it also, mostly respectful and one very obviously the user again trying to be an ass. That same user also posted in here saying complete lies about me bad mouthing LT's family.
All was reported to Reddit and it was dealt with by this platform.
Anyway, I wanted to let you all know in case some of you also wanted to know. I took over being a mod in here a little under a year and a half ago (Dec 2024 is when I was given the position by the founders of this sub and Reddit) because back then, we had users like AriSpaceExplorer, Donut-something, and a bunch of other users who would spam the sub with things like, "BC sucks, why is he on the show!" "LT is a loser lib-tard" "BC ruins this show for me" etc literally on every topic posted whether it was about BC or LT at all. We had SalsaShark who would constantly tell other users in the sub how uneducated they were for whatever reason, even if it was just them saying something simple like red was their favorite color.
That's why I wanted to be the mod. To be able to get those users out. The founders of this sub had long been inactive and there were no other mods. Everyone was complaining about those users but no one had the ability to stop them.
So to those of you who wonder why I just post links and am not "creative", I'm just not. I don't think about MK after the show ends. I don't care about it to that degree. I like LT, I like the other hosts, I enjoyed it when BC was around and wish he was still here. But I'm not thinking about LT's takes after the show stops. I listen to MK as a podcast for background noise for work and because I enjoy it. But I don't sit or have any "creative" post ideas.
If y'all want that, do it! Create your own topics and stuff. Moderators are here to keep the subs running and keep the bad actors out. Some, sure are really driven creative people and God bless them. I'm not. Never have been. If that's your criticism of me, great. Then be creative and post topics you want to talk about that are in good faith and related to MK. But coming in and saying I have to be creative... sorry.. not why I became the mod.
If you want to do something creative, do it! We had a guy in here posting long form previews for shows. Apparently he stopped because he didn't really get a lot of feedback, but I give him credit for trying.
It's also why I post JBR in here. Because they are the long time faithful fans of MK who turned that passion into a fun show. I don't care if not a lot of people listen to it, they have given to MK in so many ways whether it be fan submissions, gifts to BC and LT, or just straight up money to both guys and many other podcasts in the MMA space. They get called out almost every show and are constants on LIL's and Gaff's other podcasts.
They are the creative types who unfortunately were pushed out of Reddit by ppl like AriSpaceExplorer and SalsaShark and thus created their own space. Since then, they do come back from time to time but this sub used to be a lot worse.
Anyway, all that to say I'm sorry if I'm not creative enough for some of you. Mea culpa. I'm just not and never have been. If you want more creative posts, make them! That's what Reddit is for. Do it in good faith, don't be an ass to other users just because they disagree with you, and keep this place fun! Not a chore.
Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.
